Steal options

Steal options

If I have my manager steal setting at "conservative" and a player's individual steal setting at "steal more," does that mean that the player in question essentially has an "average" steal setting as the two opposing settings counteract one another?

I don't know, but I would never use "steal more" except for my designated pinch-runner. "Steal more" increases only the risky stealing bases---or should I say, lowers the threshold for going towards second base.

Another exception would be a playoff game, against a 8M SP who has a weak hold.

No, I think how it works is that "conservative" sets the default for [i:3ff0ad21e7]anyone[/i:3ff0ad21e7] to steal to a relatively high percentage, and then if you set an individual to "steal more", it will steal more often when that person is on, given the relatively high minimum success rate. This is what I do, and I like the results. Right now, my two teams are 84-for-103 SB (82%) in 159 games, and 22-for-24 (92%) in 75 games. [b:3ff0ad21e7]lucky[/b:3ff0ad21e7], you should try it.

The way I understand it and have been using it, the "global" settings i.e. Manager Settings help HAL determine "benchmarks" or "thresholds" that serve as guidelines for HAL to know when to execute a play, in this case, the SB.

-As Dean pointed out, when that "global" criteria is met, HAL has the greenlight to execute the play or not, the fact that the criteria is met however does [i:aca5f28d58]not[/i:aca5f28d58] mean that HAL will [i:aca5f28d58]always[/i:aca5f28d58] attempt the SB, otherwise players like Figgins or Pods would pretty much [i:aca5f28d58]always[/i:aca5f28d58] try to steal against a battery with total value of 0 or +, but as we know that is not the case. However, when the player is set to "steal more" HAL will execute it more often, if and when the criteria is met.

Long winded way of saying I understand it along the lines of what Dean described up above.
