I am playing Strat for the first time in 15 years, and I have picked out my likely pitching staff, and wanted some feedback from you mavens of the game.
My concept is to have an all righty starters, play at Minute Maid, to dull the effect of those LH righty bashers, abd have a lefty set-up guy who smokes lefties to take advantage of folks stacking lefties against me.

The starters I'm interested in are Carpenter, Garland, Colon, Oswalt, Webb, and Radke. I'll decide which ones, depending on how much I want on the hitting side. I worked out a complex ratings system to evaluate cards, and how much value I get per dollar, and these folks rate highest among righties.

I'm thinking Fuentes for set-up, and I like Rivera, Wagner, Turnbow or Isringhausen at closer. I get so much more for the extra mil or two, that I am tempted to go for Rivera or Wagner. I was thinking that a 3rd quality reliever might be nice. I like Escober or Torres, but I think Hammand might be a better choice price wise. Anf then I'll fill out with cheapy specialists like Calero, Peralta, and Mulholland.

One thing that is cool about this staff, is I have a lot of great hold numbers and could afford a +2 arm catcher, and still not be fun to steal against.

I agree with most of what you wrote.

Perhaps I disagree with Fuentes as a set-up man. MM is so extreme that I would stick with a right-handed pitching staff.

Hmmm, I'll think about Fuentes. I don't want to go all righty because of other parks, but maybe someone less extreme, any ideas?

B.J. Ryan and Scott Eyre come to mind for what you are refering to.

However I [u:91302d4bcb]strongly[/u:91302d4bcb] agree with Lucky, MM is quite brutal, I'd go with a RHP, I'd stay away from lefties all together. Afterall you don't want to turn around Switch Hitters towards the strength of the stadium and for the few straight lefties that you want a strong LHP to face you can look for a cheap LH specialist to carry...but not a setup guy...just my .02

Radke a great MM bargain if the other parks don't kill him. He should be able to post a .500 or so record and even better if things fall your way. J Dye is tearing it up for me there also.

Also, carpenter is almost a must have IMO.

Oswalt has dissapointed in almost all the leagues that I have noticed him in.

Carpernter is a must, Garland I have only seen 1 good season out of over 15 teams. Oswalt has been hit or miss (though only hit for me), Webb is an excellent value in MM. Also, if you want, Glavine should do well there also.

Look at Hermanson for a decent cheap closer, and Betencourt and seanez for cheap middle releif. If you want a hard left, get 2 cheap hard lefties like M Myers, Villone or Mercker.

How about Tom Gordon? I had him in Coors and his WHIP was under 1.00!
