Absolutely. That extra range is worth more runs (saved) than the stronger arm.

Respectfully disagree with Dave here. For the amount of chances you see at the corner OF spots, I'd concede a few hits over the long haul to have a couple of guns out there to neutralize the other team's running game. If you can stick at least two guys with (-2) or better arms in your OF, one of two good things will happen: the other managers won't attempt to take the extra base on you or... they will :wink:

the other elements are these I have damon terrible arm in cf and ramirez also a -2 in right and the other factor is the hitting if I fall behind in the game I lose sheffields bat

Don't forget, when those corner outfielders don't make the play, it turns into a double or triple. While the defensive chances are few, the total bases add up.

I've done some rough calculations, and I estimate a 4 in RF or LF vs. a 3 costs you just as many runs as a 4 vs. 3 at SS. :shock:

It's all in the total bases, and assuming an approximate OBP of .333. Use the thumbrule runs = total bases x OBP.......

but you are not including the extra outs like dp and getting the lead runner that a better ss gives u

True. That swings the pendulum toward the SS's fielding rating being more important than a corner outfielder. But we're still talking about the same order of magnitude. I believe a 4 in LF/RF will hurt you almost as much as a 4 at SS.

I think there's nothing worse than a 4 at SS.. ok, maybe a +4 catcher... nut a 4 in LF is ok in my book, if the e rating is no higher than a 6... a 4e4 who has lots of power doesn't hurt much, IMO, unless you have holes in one or too other key defense positions.
