Looking for lineup ideas

Looking for lineup ideas

Postby MrSmithTP » Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:27 pm

I have a Petco team and the other teams in the division play at Camden Yards, Minute Maid, and SBC. Im trying to put together the best possible lineup. As you can see i like speed, especially in a park where hits are hard to come by and you need stolen bases to get guys in scoring position. Id also like some opinions on my starting staff of Pedro, Pettitte, Lee and Radke.

c-Mauer
1b-Pujols
2b-Grudz
3b-Figgins
ss-Jeter
lf-Ellison/Cruz
cf-Rowand
rf-Guillen

Few comments

From the leagues I've observed so far, Mauer vs lhp is too weak and there is too many lhp pitching around. Check if you can platoon him, or look for a cheaper on-base catcher.

I have concerns about your line-up vs lhp. Quite thin, with Pujols 3R, Figgins 3R Guillen 4R and Mauer 5R being substiantially better vs rhp.

I like your SPs. But a fast look at your roster suggests that you are far off 80M. Don't spend too much on relief, you won't need a deep one. Spend it on offense, instead.

Mr S I love your starting 4. Get a situational cheapie 5th starter to replace Radke in the BPHR HR parks... Re: your lineup - a little too much GBA up and down for Petco, IMHO. Here's a stab...

RHP
Jeter
Figgins
Pujols
Mauer
Guillen
Cruz
Rowand
Lugo

Well i probably spent a bit too much on my bullpen but i was a little concerned with Radke and Lee making it deep into games and i wanted to be able to put the clamps on a close team. I have B.J. Rya as closer and i probably have a little overkill here but i have Urbina for set-up. I also have Todd Williams, Calero, Flores and Shouse round out my bullpen. My division is heavy on righties with the SBC team having Felix Hernandez, Freddy Garcia, Millwood, Papelbon, and Bonderman....all righties. The Minute Maid team having Escobar, Wood, Cook, Danial Cabrera, and Moyer. Moyer being the only lefty. And The Camden yard team having Johan Santana, Zito, Suppan and Livan Hernandez. Santana and Zito are lefties and will be tough but this is a righty heavy division.

Then you need to go with much more lefty bat. Right now, you have three lefties and 6 right-handed hitters. You must at least turn these numbers around.

Well 1 move i can do is drop Guillen in right. Available lefties around same price include Shawn Green, Gibbons, and Langerhans.
