I have played the game only twice, but love it because it represents the time of my youth.

Is there any/different aspects to take into consideration diferently then the regular game considering the "mystery card".

TSN has a ratings system in place for all the members of the simulation community. Wins/Losses, Winning Percentages, Playoff Appearances, World Series Titles are all accounted for when ranking the players in the community.

That being said, the newest games (2005 and Fantasim) used to get you 100% on your rankings while the older games only netted you 80%. In other words, if your record overall was 2000 Wins and 1800 Losses but if you only played the 80's version, they'd subtract 20% from your totals when ranking you with the rest of the simulation community. Does that help explain it?

The 80's game gives everyone a fair shot every season. The mystery card keeps this game fresh and there is no way to draft the same team season after season and expect to be successful (as in the other formats). You have to have a nose for the stats and match-ups and be able to know and see value at every corner. It takes as much skill, if not more so, to be a successful 80's game manager with the mystery card vs. a single season manager.

Myself, I've only played the 80's teams here at TSN because the format is very challenging. I can play single season strat-o on my own PC and save the 25 bucks per team. I can't play mystery card solo though!
