Biggest Potential Collapse In Strat History???

Biggest Potential Collapse In Strat History???

Postby Taters37295 » Fri Aug 04, 2006 12:25 am

I went into the home stretch of the season with a monstrous lead in my division. I have since dropped 24 of 26 games down the home stretch and now only lead the division by 3 with 3 games remaining, so I'm still crossing my fingers for a playoff birth. However, if I get swept and the team behind me sweeps tomorrow I will be out of the running after losing 27 of 29. I know I'm a newbie, but can anyone top that as one of the worst collapses in strat history?

I once caught a guy when I was nine down with twelve to go, which I thought you had no chance of coming close to until I read your post. Yours would be a collapse of historical proportions. Might as well post it now and hope for the "reverse jinx" effect.

Ha, well we will have to wait until tonight to see if my team completes it. Luckily for me I'm up against a team I've had success against all season, but with my luck lately, I have to keep my fingers crossed

I thought one of my teams had the worst collapse in history. I feel a bit better now. I feel bad for you though.

best/worst I can lay claim to is my last Tour Team that lost its last 13 games to drop from 1st to 3rd blowing an approx 8 game lead.

Ouch, that's no good. Luckily, however, I took 2 of 3 in my last series and still made it into the playoffs with the 2-24 stretch.

Ha yeah not really, however, the only reason I made the postseason is because I had huge winning streaks during the non-division play so I guess that bodes well for me entering the postseason. The 26 game stretch was against teams all in my division that have been eliminated and those teams (after I got out to a big lead) geared their teams around my left handed nt team. So, I'm thinking that there is no momentum in strat and this will end up working out. I guess we will have to find out tomorrow when the playoffs start :D

I would have to say, that losing streak is unbelievable.

I had a team that went 18-39 to end a season. Went from first to worst real quick.

On the other hand, I had a team that was 9 games out with 12 to go.
And this was just to get second in the division which also would get me into the post-season.

I won 10 of 12 and swept the 2nd place team twice in the last 3 series.
The final series was against this team and the only way to make playoffs was to sweep. Which I did.

Of course I lost in the 1st round of the playoffs.

I started a new collapse right about the time of your post. I have gone 3-9 to trim a six or seven game lead down to one with three to go. I play the second place team, D Lee is injured and I lose the tie breaker. He has three good pitchers going and I somehow managed to not have Carpenter starting. Not looking too good.
