Vs.RHP
1.Dickey C I know he is slow but Good OBP
2.Canseco RF low # of DP's
3.R.Collins 1B
4.Mays CF
5.Banks SS
6.Covington LF
7.Bando 3B
8.Red S. 2B

Vs.LHP
1.Dickey C
2.Ripper 1B
3.Canseco RF
4.Mays CF
5.Banks SS
6.Bando 3B
7.Covington LF
8.Red S. 2B
I know Dickey is slow but his ability to get on ahead of my boppers I like and also hitting in front of them keeps him from clearing the bases with his many DP's on his card so Mays And Banks can have men on when they connect.Any thoughts?-olwill

One thing I would do is, v. LHP, sandwich Bando in between Mays and Banks. Too many of Banks' homers will come after Willie has already cleared the bases. And Bando has good OBP v. L, with alot of it coming on singles that send runners scampering.

I know some managers argue that dropping a HR guy lower in the order reduces the number of dingers he'll get for you. My perspective is: What would you rather have -- 3 solo homers from Banks or 2 2-run homers? I'll take the four runs produced over the three, even if it means Banks doesn't finish in the top 5 in league HR's.

Remember that HR's don't win games for you in Baker. What wins for you (along with a few other things) are the guys that get on base before the homerun is hit.
