a couple of things that I notice:

someone has now been taken from every new team except the '79 Pirtes, which were one of the most "liked" new additions by the ATG community.

It seems to me that there is a big drop off that took place exactly between the 1st round and the 2nd round. Just my impressions, maybe, but it seems that any of the picks in the 1st round are fairly interchangable and you are getting a similar value vs. the 2nd round where the players are not of the same caliber.

...seems like !st round picks were more for best players available whereas 2nd round picks are to fill specific needs imo... :)

I think only choosing new players ( and there are some new players on some of the old teams ) will leave the teams thin in alot of places .

Hitting vs Pitching

Postby LMBombers » Mon Aug 07, 2006 11:21 am

So far there have only been 2 pitchers taken in the first 16 player picks.

I think that ratio is about to change soon as there are 8 pitchers left with a salary over 5m and only 5 hitters over 5m.

agreed, which was the critical part of the team draft. All of the teams have big time playes, the question was which teams were the deepest. I know when it got down the the 12th pick, there weren't any deep teams left to choose from. I took the '50 Yankees over the '20 Browns because I thought that there were more 2nd or 3rd tier players that were usable rather than because I thought the the top players were better.

'79 Pirates

Postby YountFan » Mon Aug 07, 2006 2:17 pm

the '79 Pirates were a great TEAM, but not a group of great players. Phil Garner looks pretty good at second, but as for superstars they are not there. Madlock is only OK, Stargell is stuck in 1971 and they never had great pitching, but go worry too much.

Why people are picking Zach Wheat over Omar Moreno and Dave Parker I cannot understand. And that Vance guy can't compete with Jim Rooker.
