One Mans Treasure Is Another Mans Junk - Season Three

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Revealed an '84 Mattingly and a '79 or '82 Rice.

Could not be happier for an opening night. The fact that I did not shuffle players until this morning, but was blessed with those reveals puts me in teh winner's circle. :P

I was a scarmbler this morning trying to come up with positve changes. My guess is I just F'd up AT's decent team from last season!!

The 0-3 start is not encouraging!

I think I am happy with my team ... but we'll see about that soon enough.

Hopefully everyone got the players they were looking for, or at least decent replacements. :)

I had planned to replace some of my poorer defenders... and even some of my offense.. and leave my pitching alone.

That was my plan.

Then I went 3-0, scoring 36 runs in the series while batting .420 and slugging a healthy .748 with the "planned to be replaced" players involved heavily... and the pitchers who I'd planned to "keep as-is" had an ERA > 5.00 and a WHIP of 1.5

Oh brother.. now what do I do?

I'm sure much of my offense was due to bad pitching, no offense to my opponent, but it's sooooo clouded the picture I can't cut much of my offense loose just yet... it'll likely clear up a day or so after each and every viable free agent has been taken.

Come on, one game injuries... I need some reveals!

Oh ... I do take offense. I'm humiliated once again by you vets.

But Dave Smith giving up 4 dingers in the same inning? Holy crap.

Made me go against my better judgement and jump on the Quiz right away!

I thought the one-two latin lefty punch of Fernando and Higuera was a good way to build a rotation and was I wrong.

I smile and tell myself - this is fun, this is fun, this is fun ....

Well, after getting drubbed last night, i have to say that i am quite happy with my massive overall of my pitching staff. never been a fan of darling, gooden, or Zane Smith. And gossage gives my a bona fide closer. Reuss, Drabek, and Blue make great additions. Might be spending a little much on pitching at the murph, but time will tell.

We'll see how Dale Murphy and Lonnie pay off. I haven't used either in awhile.

Got moved to the early shift this week moving bed-time up. Missed the frenzy but there was some decent gleaning today. Britt Burns has always been good to me, and Hassey rarely disappoints.

Going to be interesting in the West with three power parks and then me with Royals Stadium. This could be a long season

I woke up this morning to find I have Brett's 75-cent card for the third time in htree tries.

It [b:72bf9b181d]IS[/b:72bf9b181d] going to be a long season.

Since the Strat Demons are so consistent with Brett, maybe I can get Ricky Horton's '86 season twice in a row!

I've got Bowas worst season ... but I was really only counting on him for defense ... might still start Uribe in his place though.

Got swept last night ... so maybe the changes I made weren't as good as I thought - but it is still too early to tell.

FWIW- AT

I had Bowa's worst season in a two team theme league. He hit under .200  , but I kept him the whole season. It paid off with a 100 win season (a great card from Schmidt helped that alot...) and nice steady 'd' up the middle. I would probably hang with him if you have enough other bats....
