Determing BP HRs

I need a hint - how does one analyze pitchers for the BP HRs effect?

but I look at splits and compare the cards. Some pitchers get rung more one way than the other, HR's or otherwise. I have Curt Young, for ex, through 3 starts where he's giving up hit and inning, has allowed 4 HR's to RH'ers, 0 to LH'ers, and is holding LH's to sub-.200 BA. Looks like his 6L card to me (can't remember the year), because he shuts down LH's and doesn't allow the dinger, either (on some other years, he allows to both). I'm sure someone here has a more quantitative way to do it, though.

If there is a '#' beside the result, then it is a ballpark homerun.
Simply count them up, add them to the HRs on his card and you'll know whether or not you want him in a HR park.

I guess my question was more along the lines - what do you vets think is a guideline for BP HRs? Or HRs in general? Is there a number on a card which screams - drop me now?

Is there a number that says - stick with me?

BP HR run from 0 to 8 chances. 0 is better than 8, but BP HR is only one factor when considering a pitcher.

Are you talking about where the BP HR's appear specifically on the card? (like a BPHR on say, 5-9?). Or are you talking about the number of HR's in the stats, relative to determining the player's mystery card?

Each card has 108 chance vs LHP and 108 chances vs RHP. It is based in the number of different way two die can be rolled. A two can only be rolled one way whereas 7 can be rolled 7 different ways (ie 7 chances).

A BP chance is dependent where on the card it fall, If it falls on 2 or 12 it is one change, falls on 7 it is 7 chances. Each player can have a max of 8 chances per side on their card. So a player with 8 BP chances could have them on 1 and 7, or 3 and 5 etc. And they can have a different number per side. The link above explains this very well.

If your park has a 10 BP HR rating and your 'roll' on a BP chance you have and 50% chance if it being a homer. in an 15 park 75%, in a 5 park 25%.
