G-Men Challenge:Alphabet Theme 80 mil. DH/ NEW LEAGUE!

Postby errormagnate » Mon Oct 17, 2005 12:45 pm

In keeping with the spirit of the league I have drafted a team entirely of M's in Memorial Stadium - the Mammoth M's.
I realize you dont have to leave him to me but there is a certain CF playing for the Giants that is needed on this team lol.

love the quaker oats man quote chief, and ya know Im a sucker for theme leagues. figured since I've NEVER owned ernie banks, I better jump in and grab the b's before someone else did. not a bad bunch...just wondering...is boston #21 a b, or a c? can't afford him AND 3-finger anyhow, but curious. (couldn't afford yogi either, atleast not as currently configured...bollacks!)

C,D,S, AND W, would all make strong teams to go with your g, m, and my b's...that leaves five more. the rest might have to be combos...think we can get enough owners?

Actually, it is not a requirement that you limit yourself in any way. My original request was that you not draft any players with the first leter G, but others have jumped on the alphabet bandwagon, so if you want the B's, including Clemons, come on board!

The G-Men play in a stadium named the G Spot.

amesy's in with "m" for murder, I'm the killer b's, not sure what ace is up to if there's any theme at all. are our m's and b's protected like the g's or is that too restrictive for new owners? I can tell you I didn't take berra or boston #21 or brecheen or bowa or bush, or brock. kinda fun making out a roster with those restrictions, although it meant i had to take the dreaded jesse barfield. hopefully banks and brett around him will lesson his underachievement.

Yes, if we have a quorum of players using alphabet limitations, we should perhaps restrict it. I had no idea this would be at all popular as a concept, although it did seem that everyone enjoyed pounding my G-Men in the previous league they were in. So thus far we have the letters G, B, M covered. I am too lazy to count players on the pool roster. Can anyone easily tell how many players there are for each letter? We could try to group them in 12 divisions for purposes of evening out the player pools. I actually drafted a couple of players that had names which did not start with G, so if we go pure, I will dump them after the draft.

Okay, it took me a loooong time to come up with a letter based team that would fit in with my other team name rule of drawing from Stephen King stories. If there are no objections, I will enter the lobstrocities of the Great Western "C" tonight.

good going gamjam...the C is chock full of super choices, and d is deep as well. if you just go to the draft list and hit d, or t, or any one letter, it will list all the pitchers followed by all the batters who begin with that letter. gives you an instant idea about the player pool available. I think atleast half the league can be letter themed, if not seven or eight teams. that could make two divisions, then the wild card division could either be combonation letters, and or the final team could be wild card of unusued letters or unusued players from the other themed teams. I've already noted I've left off some awfully good pitchers, shortstops and outfielder or two and a catcher named yogi for a wildcard entrant to have at. I suggest themed teams open with a roster conforming to their letter choice, and then any trades or draft changes are permissable. "s' is also a good choice with simmons, speaker, spahn, sanguillen, snider, schmidt, schoendinst, sullivan, stewart, seaver etc....
