No kidding Bun.

I am a Yankee fan first, and an Astros fan second. Been as Astro fan since 1983 and Yankee fan since I was born in 1973. I dug the colors of the uniforms and needed a NL team to root for when the Yanks were not playing. I loved JR Richard, Mike Scott and Nolan Ryan.

[quote:720dc13b1a="Sneezedoc"]...the art of a live draft when you can't necessarily keep the team you tried to create...it really makes no sense to me.....IF you had a full 25 round draft, you would be able to do that because there is a block of picking up ...
Here you are leaving it up to an AUTODRAFT making it very hard to create your team appropriately....[/quote:720dc13b1a]
IMO, this is a matter of personal taste. I respect the idea that you want to build the entire team through live draft. Myself, however, I like the random element of the AutoDraft. When I first started playing TSN SOMO, I had some reservations about it, but I think its a great mechanism. The autodraft mechanism allows you to target some key players, but also forces you to adjust on the fly. I like that challenge.

To truly draft your team, you'd have to work out some kind of mechanism where you drafted the rights to 24 players for 80 mil (or more if you wanted more), but configured to draft card to TSN's rules. Then switched out the players after the AD ran. It would get a little complicated, but could be interesting. My major problem with live drafts is that I'm just so damn impatient.

We're all guinea pigs here since this is the first limited pool theme league for 1969. To be honest, I hadn't even thought through the Salary Cap issue [b:720dc13b1a]until Sneezie brought it up[/b:720dc13b1a] (and a big thanks to Sneeze for that!). I blew my first two picks and 22 mil of cap on 2 stud starters, so that I wouldn't have to worry about making cap. However, I'm not at all sure that was the right strategy (I drafted very differently in the AL only). We'll see what happens. I think we're going to have some pretty crazy looking teams compared to what we're used to working with in most SOMO leagues.

Bun (and other 'Stros fans),

My condolences... That was the most brutal playoff loss since 1986. Forget about the Buckner play in the World Series... The Red Sox put 4 on the board in the top of the 9th to send Game 5 of the ALCS into extra innings, then won in the 11th. The Angels were leading by 3 and thought they were on their way to the series.

Normally, I'd think the momentum swing (and the Cards great players) would be too much to overcome, but Houston has the dominant starting pitching to check that momentum.

In any case, its all academic. my [b:3be8093e9f]White Sox [/b:3be8093e9f]are going to crush whichever team advances to represent the [i:3be8093e9f]Girls League[/i:3be8093e9f] in the series. :P
