Yikes, Sykes

Postby YountFan » Tue Oct 18, 2005 4:56 pm

Hey, skyes pulled this stunt vs a vet league a year back and nearly made the playoffs. You think you're handicapping him, but he likes those players anyways. It will be a challenge for you guys to beat him. And don't worry, sykes likes challenges. If you want to level the playing field make him play in Oakland

No. I'm not trying to sucker newbies. YF is just revealing that I have done this before.

A few main differences...

1- The other 11 owners had 24 hours after waivers to make all the changes they wanted. Once that 24 hours were up, I had free reign over the remaining FA pool. There was no forced trading except for pre-waivers really.

2- I had to work REALLY REALLY hard to keep my team from falling flat on it's face.

3- I got to use Jack Murphy which enabled me to use players others never use, but I had before.

4- The team finished 23 games out of first and really sucked the last 2 weeks of the season. I was within 5-8 games at the 130 game mark or so I think.

5- I think I only added players during the year which were dropped by others, but I am not 100% sure there.

Here's a link to the team. http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/80s/team/team_other.html?user_id=38526

Don't be afraid of skyes. It was just some good nature ribbing. He will be at a disadvantage, but you WILL learn from him about players and managing. I say let him in, and beat him. His MUST accept trades offer is insane.

If you want to be the best, learn from the best. It is fun to see what sykes can do giving the disadvantage he'll have.

Offer the open the league to vets and allow them to select there own handicap. sykes selected his. let others pick their poison.

YF...I like your style...let me think about it, but I think

Postby AdamPhoenix » Tue Oct 18, 2005 7:15 pm

I like it.

One twist however, would be the vets would pick each others poision and what stadium they have to play in. As for Sykes he keeps his poision, and only new players can force him to trade during the preseason process.

Let me know what you think.

It would be an opportunity to see a vet in action. I got into a league with all the sharks. I learned a lot just by seeing what they did and why they did it.

I am not sure you can limit just one teams salary.

Here is an idea. I have some experience. This will be only my fifth 80's team, but I only play one team at a time. I have been watching for a while now. Put Sykes in the Central with me and YountFan. Get another vet to join. I will take them on. That way you real newbies will have a fighting chance to make the playoffs.

A wonderful idea. Once the vets sign up we can select pick 3 number and pair each other up and let the poison be selected. I'm up for this.
