Theme of the Month Club-

Postby CATom » Tue Aug 29, 2006 1:10 pm

from what i gather there are two solutions. 1 is we just play it out and enter and if someone misses the Thursday frenzy - well, to bad (don't think there are going to be alot of options with this theme, anyway) OR 2. we can set a time for a Monday morning frenzy - before the league starts, say NOON eastern - and hope everyone can make it .... i'm game for either way, lets just clarify the way we are going :)

BTW - Nor Cal is QUITE different that So Cal! We live in Ukiah and the big change i noticed when i was in Houston was HERE when you go outside its like going into an OVEN, and there its like going into a sauna!!!!!!

CATom, er I mean TXTom

Monday is no good. Labor day and I will likely be traveling all day.

I second the request to load em up tonight. If you don't like your players, you can always trade with owners prior to waivers running Thursday.

This league was WAY slow to get going. Don't want to drag anymore if we can avoid it.

Monday (9/4/06) is not a good idea for post-waivers. It's Labor Day and if we decide not to make any roster moves until Monday NOON, it will difficult to make any transactions, trades, etc. befor the games that night. The fact that it is a holiday really will cramp the activity.

I am of the mindset that we fill the league as planned tonight (waivers draft would be Thursday) OR we wait another week. Either way is fine with me; just let me and "Tex" know so that we can put (or not put) our teams in.

I'll reveal my entire draft card right now if it will help us load for tonight.

My vote is for next week. I hate to think what will be left by the time I get home. If I don't get what I need in waivers it will be $25 bucks down the tube.

Let's draft tonight. Post waiver frenzy will probably not be a big deal as long as you have utilized your waiver claims since there will be only sub $2 mill or less available..

Is there anytime Thursday that TxTom/Msheaf will be available online from hotel/library, etc? If so, we could possibly designate that time as a frenzy.

There were 9 pitcher KINGS taken so we will be drafting 111 pitchers under $3m. Assuming that Few of us will be listing .50 pitchers on our draft card this means that the only pitchers available after waivers will be $1.53 salary or below.

We will be drafting 153 hitters which means hitters will be available at $1.50 or less after the draft. Bargains after the draft will most likely be scooped up in waivers leaving slim pickings for the frenzy.

Possible Compromise?

Postby Risden » Tue Aug 29, 2006 3:05 pm

What if we try this? We draft tonight - the waiver draft is Thursday; after this waiver draft is run, there won't be too much available.

But, to be fair to all (?), what if we all agree to carry only 26 total players until some point in the future. It is up to each manager which 26 players to carry.

Then, at an agreed-upon time, we can pick up as many players as we all want (up to the SOM max of 28, I believe). A good time for that restriction to be lifted might be AFTER the Monday night games are run. Or that time can be Monday at NOON (EST? CST?) prior to the start of games being played.

This way, those without PC access will get a fair shake at the slim pickings of free agents after the waivers are run.

Thoughts? Let us know ASAP - I am holding my team until later today until we reach some kind of compromise or decision. I don't want to piss off any owner in this league - things have been great. On the other hand, it is a "monthly" obligation. Sometimes at work, I can't get access to the SOM site until way after my desired time.
