[b:804529ecb5]AT Press: [i:804529ecb5]Metropolis close to Finalizing Roster[/b:804529ecb5][/i:804529ecb5]

The Montreal Metropolis organization announced today that it is close to finalizing its roster for the season, and will be sending down several players to 'Triple A' for seasoning in hopes that they could be ready for next year.

Players like Tommy Agee, while understanding that space was limited on the Metropolis roster, have asked for, and been given permission to try and see if they could make it to the show with another team, provided that they return to the Metropolis organization next year.

There is a couple of key position battles still going ... as Sid Fernandez and Whitey Ford duke it out for the last spot on the rotation, with Fernandez currently holding the upper hand, and management is waiting to see if anyone can take the backup C spot from Jerry Grote. It is rumoured that Metropolis is shopping for a solid C under 1m that has a decent bat but isnt too horrid a defender.

T. Agee
R. Anderson
J. Beattie
R. Darling
J. Devore
L. Doyle
E. Figueroa
M. Harder
E. Howard
R. McDowell
F. Merkle
C. Meyers
R. Murray
D. Pasqua
B. Skowron
F. Snodgrass
D. Winfield

While you guys are on pace for 400 HR's... my team (currently 1-8 ) is on pace for <20 wins. I can see it now... 10 pitchers in the league will finish with more wins than my entire team! I guess we see goofy results over short time periods.. I just wish it were goofy-good instead of bad!

I went with a pitching-oriented team, playing in Forbes09, and my team ERA is sitting at 7.02, with a WHIP of 1.90; Every one of my pitchers has an ERA > 5.00, including Camnitz/Young in the 6's and Bob Gibson >15

I'm making up for that with my nuclear offense, currently batting .214 with < 3 runs per game...

Ty Cobb .192 average (and he's slugging .192 as well, awesome)
Gehringer batting .207, Davey Jones lowest on team with an .097

I'm looking forward to playing other divisions, at least so I can get pounded by different players, in different ways, in different ballparks.

Only 12 games played and already Mantle & Maris both have 11 HR ... you know that pace is not going to continue all season ... but much longer??

Leading the league in slugging ... I can only wonder what my W/L record would be like if Jones & Fletcher could get on base! ;)

I see wjanssens squad has started winning some games. :)
