[quote:3a83239be5="ggapp"]I strongly disagree that allowing a lineup to account for a reverse pitcher would harm the online TSN strat game. It would only enhance it and reward or punish the manager who pays attention to his/her team on a daily basis by allowing more direct managerial adjustments. It will enhance the strategy, not corrupt it. For example: let's say you have Wrigley field as your home field and your opponent has Horatio Ramirez, Glendon Rusch, and Tom Glavine scheduled as the starting pitchers going against you at Wrigley. Our only managerial decision now is to have one lineup, with the quandry who do you try to beat? Obviously, Ramirez is the best candidate because you can load up your right handed hitters against him and you have a clear advantage in many respects. The downside is that Rusch may beat you simply because of the inability to have lefthanded batters face him if you try to beat Ramirez. If we can pick a lefthanded lineup against Glavine and Rusch and a right handed lineup against Ramirez, now you have an advantage against all three pitchers, which you have to weigh against the fact that if you use mostly lefties against them, you may have negated your ballpark advantage by not using the #HR for the righty batters. So, now you have a lot more to think about and to strategize than you did before. Thus, I disagree with Jeepdriver, etc and believe reverse lineups will greatly enhance our game.[/quote:3a83239be5]
OK then whats next?.....seperate base stealing settings for pitchers with + or - hold ratings?.....seperate base running settings for OFers with + or - arms?.....
Part of the strategy and fun is to have to decide what players to use in a series or what managerial settings to make. Lets say you will face 2 LH SP in your next series. One is a 3L and one is a 3R. You have to decide what LH lineup to use based on that info. Do you go after the 3L or the 3R. That is strategy to me.
Lets say in your next series you will face a catcher with a 0 throwing arm. The SP hold ratings are -4, 0 & +4. Do you make your base stealing settings to try to take advantage of the +4 hold rating or play it conservative because you are worried about the -4 hold rating?
How boring would it be to have lineups and strategies so defined that you don't have to make any tough in season decisions like the above?
I LOVE the position depth chart idea for when you have an injured player but I am NOT for the reverse lineup settings at all. BOO reverse lineup settings....HOORAY beer!
