March Madness Round 3 - Bracket 2 - REVISED LEAGUE

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

7-11 and 4th place in the East through initial divisional play - yuck! The "well HAL stuck me with Dusty, may as well give him a try" experiment has officially failed. Kept thinking he was the manager. Plus, Shane Rawley had to get sent back to the minors, and I needed to free up some $$ for a more able replacement (Lamarr Hoyt). So, Billy Hatcher's on the squad. Still have a passel of disappointing performers though...leash is getting short on Ryan and Valenzuela too...at least dumping them (if it happens) will free up substantial cash. I gotta find a way to wake this squad up!

Well it's only been 77 at bats and Dale Murphy has yet to hit a homer. Does that mean I can drop him yet?

Jack, six teams advance.

Wow - only 6 teams...playoff teams and two runners up to the wild card. This'll be tough! Particularly if Eric Davis spends the season on the damn DL (He's had a 3 and a 15 gamer already!).

Guidry Loses NoNo and Game in 9th!

Postby Jack377 » Mon Sep 04, 2006 6:29 am

The Bats' Billy Hatcher (newly acquired by the Bats) doubles with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th of 0-0 game to beak up the no hitter by Guidry...Mark Davis relieves and yields a walkoff double to Harold Reynolds (who was aggressively soliciting a date from the Bat Girl while in the ondeck circle)--giving Lamarr Hoyt (also newly acquired) a 1-0 victory in his first game as a Bat!

Nice GMing by hechojazz to pick up two of the key figures in the win just before game time! 8)

On another note, Dave Winfield homered in game 21...so I definitely don't have the double-secret, extra-mysterious "W" power card for Dave...

Winnie the Pooh

Winfield has a 7th season card that HAL likes to use for those teams who really, really don't believe there is a 6th season card.

I found HAL does have a 6th season card for Henke though

Now I know why you picked up Comer and his 9.00 ERA. It looks pretty good next to Henke's secret 1971 little league card.

I'm bullish on Comer's 6th season card

Goodbye Valenzuela...damn how I detest bad pitching cards! And getting an injury reveal of Burleson's worst year was just icing on the cake. His BEST year isn't particularly interesting as it is! Now the question: how much is that 1e20 rating worth at SS??? I had this same quandry last round, when I landed Trammell's worst year...at least Burleson doesn't represent so much salary!

A lot of big names are hitting the trash heap but I'm still clinging to my 4 RBI homerless Dale Murphy. He assured me that he's just in one of those slumps.
