b,c,m,g, and now w taken, that's nearly half the league. I know from scouting, d and s can field very competitive teams, and r too. H is also a strong pitching oriented choice with hornsby as an offensive centerpiece, and highland grounds to frustrate the neighbors. I think e/f is a fair combination...have to figure out who to marry to y's who would have yount, yaz, york, yost, but need a companion letter with more pitching options. would love to have ace back if he's got another credit to use under the letter concept.

Meat Man, I am officially turning over the Commissioner's chair to you! Seriously, I think your ideas are great, and appreciate your running with it. I would agree with making the letter requirement hard and fast for players and stadiums. There is no real reason to do waivers since there is no overlap in terms of the draft...and none of that nuisance reordering of picks! As for combining letters, since I started this mess, I would say that each player should have a pool at least as deep as the G's, so combining letters to acheive this would be acceptable. However, if a deeper pool can be acheived with one letter, go for it! So, the cleavage is gone, as are M, B, G, C.

interesting the Hack man didn't make the wombats, especially with the dh in effect. looks pretty competitive. we're almost half way there, we just need to find half a dozen more vet owners willing to test their team building skills. doesn't hurt that you already know what the opposition will be, and any subsequent teams won't have to compete in the all but full east. I'll be glad to take or share commish chores, chief, but I'm heading for Maui at dawn friday, and not back on the mainland until thursday morning. hopefully by then we're full. I'll get on whenever possible during vaca, but probably limited access. btw, last time the white sox were in the world series 1959 hawaii and alaska were granted statehood. :wink:

I thought about Hack, but I'm playing in more of a pitcher's park so am emphasizing pitching and defense. Most of my slugging will probably come from Teddy Ballgame, The Big Kraut and Sweet Lou. White and Whitt will provide occasional power.

Of course, during frenzy I may pick up a slugger who fits, although I'll stay with my Ws until I see others deserting the theme (which, as I've mentioned, should be kept throughout IMHO to make it more interesting).

I also think T would be a good choice. And there are quite a few in L, maybe combined with K.

Im with you mo, Im all for keeping the theme, atleast through autodraft, waivers, which as chief mentioned will make for a limp frenzy. I think once you denounce a player in your letter, he should be free to be drafted by another team. what we could do is protect five additional players in our letter to make a minor leagues in order to make transactions and add drops. I suggest we say you stay with your letter until opening night, after that, all letters are available for future drop/adds. we also have to consider that in order to get 12 owners, we may need to allow a wildcard lettered team. but let's see how many single letter themes we get. feel free to invite all interested parties to take a spin. most of us are pretty jaded about atg2 by now, so I think this theme is pretty good. let me know what you think about establishing a protected minor leagues, or how we should regulate styaying with the letter of the law. 1959 also the year harold baines was born!

The advantage of staying entirely within theme is that the team , well certainly MY team, is tragically flawed which I find interesting after league after league of All Star lineup opponents. If you stay entirely within theme, you do not need a minors....your letter players will always be there. I would suggest that perhaps trades be allowed, which would add the twist that if a team wanted an unused player of a certain letter, he would have to convince the owner of that letter to release the player by drafting him onto their team and trading him. You are correct that there is no true frenzy with these teams, it just allows you to do drop/adds immediately after draft, without the tedium of waivers, and would leave more time for trading, if that is the plan. Incidentally, although I did not draft him, I think I should be entitled to use Tommie Agee. He is, after all, a gee.......If we do decide to allow dilution of the roster purity during the frenzy, then we do need to limit the number of non letter players we can add, or the league theme loses all meaning.

Anyone know who entered the Puzzycat Theater in the central? Did we pick-up a stray cat? Maybe this should be moved to a pasword league? I will be away for the weekend at a wedding, but I'll try to heck in if we need to move teams.
