New league forming...Vets vs. the rooks!

Postby ANDREWLAITURI » Thu Oct 20, 2005 4:35 pm

Hey fellas,

Are you a rookie who dreams of ripping a title from a wiley, crafty vet or are you a grizzled veteran of numerous vet and theme leagues who pines for the glory days of old when you'd ground pitiful rookie teams into hamburger?

Either way, this leagues for you!

The rules? Simple! 2 rookies and 2 vets per division.

Stadium? Anything goes!

Draft? Regular AD

Sign up and let the best vet...err...man win!

Since I don't know everyone here please stat your status as vet or strat virgin.

Tyber, is it 80M, Waiver, Advanced? If it doesn't fill by sunday, I will take one of the (Over the hill - seen better days) Vet spots. Robert(aka swpsychic)

Tyber, how about 1 simple autoleague twist - especially if it isn't up and running yet. That we announce our Ballparks upfront - before we draft - so it isn't such a surprise and allows for upfront strategies and draft cards.

We tried this in LOTO Leagues and it made for incredible competition. All the rest would be the same - auto/80M/Waiver/Advanced/Multiple BP's - but with the twist of knowing where your Division and League will be playing.

Of course, it doesn'thave to be that way either - just a suggestion. And thanks for creating this. It's nice to just play and not have to coordinate. :) SWP

Hey guys,

Salary cap: 80M

I like the idea of announcing our intended ballparks ahead of time.
Thanks Rob for the idea.

I'd like to take a crack at you guys, but I'm not a "vet" or a "rookie." Anyone mind if I join? I'll be a rook.

Welcome aboard JD,

I should clarify that the "rooks" don't necessarily have to be true first timers but they should be close in that regard like maybe having just started in the last year or so.

I'm interested as well. Guess you'd call me a vet but you can't tell from teh way I've played in the Tour leagues.

See Rob, I would take it a step further. After all, aren't we trying to even the playing field for the newbies to have a "handicap" against us grizzled vets?

How about all the vets have to announce their park and top five (or is this a live draft) to the rooks (only to the rooks, who would have to hold it in the strictest confidence) before the autodraft. This would give them a significant advantage.

I'm not certain if I can join this league or not (sure could if it went off tonight) but I thought I'd offer that suggestion.
