NLD 14

big sweep for Jeep

Postby qksilver69 » Thu Sep 07, 2006 12:29 am

Now only 3 gms out Jeepster!

You know, I wanted a backup 1b, and as I picked up Fick I was thinking "crap, he qualifies as a C, now both Molina & Melhuse can go down at the same time". What happens next series? Molina 3 gamer, Melhuse 10 gms....

QK, something like that happened to us in another league, but we didn't lose them for that long.

Since I usually complain, I'll note that we managed to win two close games tonight, but lost the third in 13. Nice to win a couple of close ones, but at this point...

The sweep was nice, but I gotta keep an eye on the back door too as AT is trying to pull another ridiculous second-half surge.

It's funny how teams are so up one minute and down the next in this league. This is the NLD. :)

Yeah Jeep - I appreciate you sweeping QK ... but I'd have preferred that you only have won 2 of 3, so that I could gain on both of you. ;)

Hope my team can stay over .500 now that they've tasted it! :)

The Beat goes on.

Three one run games tonight, we win only one (of course).

In game one, [b:92f9d5977a]UNBELIEVEABLE.[/b:92f9d5977a]   We have a 9-0 lead entering the 7th. Glavine gives up 4, but gets through the inning only to see Hal bring in Flores (the only guy available due to the two close games last night) He gives up a HR to Floyd in the 8th THEN gives up 6 in the 9th. Why Hal leaves him in, because now HE'S tired is a good question. We lose 10-9. I'm just laughing at this because it's just so far beyond the pale all season. <head shaking>

We actually win game 2 with a run in the 9th (yes, only 1, see below)

Game 3? Just another [b:92f9d5977a]Extra Inning[/b:92f9d5977a] loss with a blown save by Carrasco. Ho hum, just another day. :P This time it's only 3 runs in the top of the 9th all come with two outs and no one on. Then, of course, we get two on in the bottom of the 9th, with only one out, but we can't score.

Almost every night, it's the same old things. Amazing. I keep thinking I'm going to see something else, but.... Nope, same things over and over. Headed for 30 games under... :(

Jet

p.s. Teixeira finally hit his 20th HR in game 138. Heck, Shelton's got 22.

Sorry to do that to you Joe. You really do seem to be snakebit this season.

I have to tell you though, you are basically living my 2006 SOM experience in a nutshell. It has been a nightmare season for me, so I feel your pain.

Thanks Big,

I know your team from last NLD didn't get many breaks either. I havent' looked at your team this time around. As for me, for awhile, I just figured we were in a slump, but then it just kept happening. Weird. Now, it's almost funny. I just shake my head.

AT,

What's your secret? ;)

The latest installment of the Beer Knight Saga! :) ;)

We managed to win 2, amazingly enough, course we had to have our loss be a [b:a514d034e7]bottom of the 9th [/b:a514d034e7] game with Flores giving up a HR to Delgado, with a man on first who'd reached on an error (big surprise). So much for the Hard LHP theory.

Bottom line: We lose on an unearned run in the bottom of the 9th.

But, hey, we won a blow out in game 2 and a one run game!!! in game 3. After getting a runner thrown out of the plate (1-12) in the previous inning. Cabrera gets a hit to score a runner!

I gotta admit though, we've had a way of beating Clemens with Zito this year. I think this is the 3rd time we've beaten him in the last three attempts!
