'The Naturals' Keeper League Season VII - Congrats tkl33!

Postby ArrylT » Fri Sep 08, 2006 1:51 pm

I don't really have the time or desire at the moment to repeat myself yet again so please reference the posts made Tuesday August 29th, as well as those made earlier in August on this thread - thanks! :)

Thanks for doing the round by round listings. I can't access the draft site at work so it's nice to be able to see how each round went.

Back in late July/Early August when we were having the discussion over whether to have keepers or not, and if so, in what format (see bottom of page for link to thread), when I did the poll to determine the outcome I stated the following

Poll 1: Keepers or no Keepers

(a) Start totally fresh
(b) Option to keep 2*
(c) Option to keep 4*
(d) Required to keep 2
(e) Required to keep 4

[b:e407cb2923]* - Option means you can choose not to keep any players from your roster. Owners that do keep 2/4 Keepers will lose 2/4 draft picks at the ending of the draft to balance out.[/b:e407cb2923]

In the end, as we all know, Option B was determined by majority vote. Thus I put the following in the rules:

3 - For every player you protect, you lose 1 draft pick, from the end of the Draft.

Ok - you're probably asking - why is this necessary?

Answer: So that [b:e407cb2923]every owner[/b:e407cb2923] goes into the autodraft with the same # of players on his draft card - 16, and the remaining 9 would be autodrafted.

2 Protected + 14 drafted = 16
1 Protected + 15 drafted = 16
0 Protected + 16 drafted = 16

After Season I - I don't really care about the balance between live & autodraft picks on your draft card - but going into Season I, I wanted everyone on as equal a footing as possible.

In the end, everyone will have the same number of players going into the autodraft. I can understand how this may "seem" like a penalty to those who protected 2 players - but can ANYONE really tell me with a straight face that they'd rather have the right to protect a scrub they drafted in the 15th round rather than to have protected the likes of Ernie Banks, Lou Gehrig, Ozzie Smith or Robin Yount???

[b:e407cb2923]NOTE: I NEVER SAID YOU COULD NOT PUT THE SCRUB YOU DRAFT ON YOUR DRAFT CARD - HOWEVER ANYONE ELSE CAN AS WELL[/b:e407cb2923]

I'll be on vacation from 9/9-9/16. I'll have little or no on-line access. I have proxies loaded but not sure I'll be able to load my team this Friday. I'll do my best. Just FYI.

I foolishly went over the cap with my last pick, Schumacher. If someone could approve my drop, I would appreciate it.
