[quote:e0e5a222c1]]"gstains" as his board name goes had a huge issue with this. After teepak made his official ruling to make corrections and move on, this guy decides it's not good enough and picks up Tony Clark and Miguel Cabrera to prove a point. remember it's an AL only league. After a few nice messages and one not so nice one, he gets so pissed and decided he is done with the league. So tonight he droped his entire roster and picked up all $ .50 million players. [/quote:e0e5a222c1]

:?

What is this guy 2 yrs old ? Who the fk needs this kind of childish behavior.

I thought this was supposed to be about FUN ! Getting away from the real world for a while and play a game ?

Unless I very wrong, if you want to "quote rules" - RULE # 1 - [b:e0e5a222c1]NO CRYING IN BASEBALL ![/b:e0e5a222c1]

Commish made a ruling, suck it up and move on. Protest all you want - take a league vote - but at the end of the day someone's going to be left unhappy. Boo Hoo. What a baby.

Another innocent bystander view...

Postby visick » Thu Sep 14, 2006 9:22 am

My 2 cents...

While I would not have handled it the way gstains did, I can see why he is/was very nad about this whole thing.

I read this last night and had time to digest it all.

I've gotta side with gstains on this one, sorry.

81 games is a long time for a mistake to go unnoticed. Whether or not Lopez had a big influence or not is not the point. How many time have you guys lost out on the playoffs by a game or 2...or even 3 games? If Lopez helped win 1 extra game it would be wrong.

Would the guys siding with cminton still feel the samee way if he was a newbie? I doubt it.

Is cminton at fault here...YES
gstains, dropping ALL of your players was the WRONG thing to do as well.

But I still am on gstains side with this.

I'm confused. Here's what I wrote, above.

"That being said, when it was pointed out to me, I took complete responsibility and we asked teepack for a ruling. There are two issues here. (1) What do we do about my record and possible playoff points in this league? (2) What do we do about the impact it may have had on the other teams in this league? For (1), I recommended that I get zero points for this event and that this be the event that is dropped. (I will be participating in every event.) For (2), I have no idea and left it to teepack. "

1. I accepted complete responsibility.
2. I offered to take a zero in this event.

What else do you want me to do? This is not my day job. I do this for fun. I love drafting teams. I do not have time to actively manage them and that is probably why I'm overall a .500 manager. Every day I go to the Front Office for each team and see if my teams won or lost games. I rarely look at the teams themselves after I set my pitching rotation and lineups. I had never heard of Felipe Lopez before I drafted him on Penn's site.

I understand why gstanis is upset. I would be too. I recognize that having Lopez may have had an impact on other teams and asked teepack for guidance on how to handle that. Gstanis' solution was for us to replay the league and I should send everyone a check for $24.95 to pay for their teams. That's absurd. When teepack said play on and everyone else said okay, gstanis had a tantrum. I have been in leagues where Commissioners made decisions I did not like and I moved on. That is what he should have done.

bottom line

Postby rgimbel » Thu Sep 14, 2006 10:16 am

bottom line is teepack made the wrong call lopez should of been dropped along with another player on team of equal value that should of evened this out this solution did not and gtanis was screwed. his reaction was childish though. another bottom line lol is that everyone in league was at fault im my tour league people kept drafting al players for nl league and a bunch of us kept pointing it out. I think one player got drafted a few times. esp in a live draft of this nature how hard is it to check everyones picks.

I don't think I am blaming you in what u offered, yes you are to blame for the initial mistake, but teepacks decision to play on was equally as bad. While if what u are saying gstains wanted is correct, that is absurd, no way you could refund the difference thats silly. If TSN could replay the league fine, but that is doubtful.

All I am saying is teepack should have made you do more than just drop Lopez for a .5 guy, You should have had to drop your highest priced hitter for a repalcement (who I am sure isnt much above 1 mill) and then pick up a replacement for Lopez. This way you are penalized severly and give cummings (since he is in second) a chance to win the division.

BTW gstains needs to repick his team as much as possible ASAP to save face here.

honest mistake

Postby rgimbel » Thu Sep 14, 2006 10:42 am

crimton made an honest mistake a ridiculous one but honest. If I was gtanis it was the decision by teepack that would of set me off. How is that a penalty picking up a .50 cent player for Lopez, what else was left an .80 cent player big deal. Drop another high priced player along with Lopez and it would of been an equitable situation for all and I dont think it would be on the boards today
As far as the rat comment there is no need for name calling.

My 3 cents - since I AM in this league with the two principlas although safely bringing up the rear in another division.

Cminton did make a mistake and has done anything and everything anyone has asked him tod and I think what he proposed for his 'penalty' was more than fair BUT that is entirely teepak's call- he made it and we need to move on.

I had an inkling what this 'gstanis' guy was all about when on a trade HE initiated I traded Olerud to him with some people for some of his players. I did not notice at the time Olerud was down for a couple of days nor would I have checked on it honewstly with over 50 active teams. However HE chose to make a public spectacle of the issue and I offered to undo the trade immediately and do it again when his injury was over - of course he never had the courtesy to reply to that. His response to this mistake by Cminton is clearly ridiculous and is consistent with the type of behavior he has displayed all aong in this league.

This is clearly a person with emotional responses to petty issues and I know as someone who does this for FUN that I would wish NOTHING to do with this guy in the future.

Last I checked, F.Lopez was a sub $4 mil player..... A SUB $4 MIL PLAYER !

ARE U KIDDING ME ! ALL THIS OVER HIM !

This not the F.Lopez of 2003 "ULTRA BARGAIN".

Had cminton NOT screwed up he's STILL have an $80 mil team on the field....now he won't.

AND he's getting ZERO POINTS for this ?

Please.

The punishment does NOT fit the crime here people.

For those who say "Well, I side with gstains" - OF COURSE ! cminton does too ! lol !!!! There is no dispute as to who was right or wrong w/ the error. The question now is what to do about it.

A) live with it and move on nicely
B) live with it, voice your displeasure, but still play
C) live with it, put your team on auto pilot and quit the tour

or

D) fk the league and the 10 other innocent by standers and fk the tour

Yea, that's the answer

[quote:1032d06059]gtanis was screwed.[/quote:1032d06059]

How about the rest of us managers in the league, we got screwed too and yet none of us reacted in a childish manner. I think the penalty for the original mistake should have been tougher and it does not matter who you are, newbie or vet. Lopez did have a big impact on the league, a .940 OPS in a league starved for offense. Cminton even offered a tougher penalty for himself.

The difference is Cminton made an honest mistake and gstanis is intentionallty trying to destroy the league. The commisioner made his decision and like gstanis I don't necessarily agree with it, but I understand that Teepack is in a tough spot here as well. Maybe we could replay the league with our rosters set at the time we discovered the mistake, but that is likely to be a hassle and not a popular decision with the twelve managers in the league. There is no easy solution for Teepack so while I think his decision was to lenient, I can't come up with a better one so I just want to move on.

I think those of us who think that gtanis has a right to be upset are in no way supportive of his actions

This is a ridiculous response by pac in my tour league nl only Lopez the non impact sub 4 mil player that he is has the following stats
.378 ba leads league
.453 ob leads league
.662 slug 2nd in league

not bad for a nonimpact player who wouldnt give you much of an advantage if you played him illegally
