[quote:223ad9fa24="Hakmusic"]I'm going to wait a bit on Crossing. I hope no one will protest, but this would be his 2nd skipped pick, and if a bunch of proxies fire, he could be really in a hole. My feeling is that we've moved pretty good so far, and that it is worth it to wait a bit here. But I will go with the general feeling.[/quote:223ad9fa24]

I am okay with waiting until morning if necessary. I will load up a few proxies for this evening if Crossingroads gets back in the draft and things start moving again.

I agree, let's wait on Crossingroads until the morning.

This is my first live draft - and it's been a blast. I was really surprised to see Grich available in the 8th round. I was planning to go cheap at 2B and almost took Remy with my #8 pick but couldn't pass up Grich and his 2 monster years. Does Grich usually go this low?

Yellow Dog - what are you doing taking Burns? I've been in 8 leagues and I think the only guy who used Burns was me. The guy has been great for me, winning 17 & 18 games for my last 2 teams and doing just as well on 2 current teams. He always seems to be available in the pre-season. I was figuring that I wouldn't need to draft Burns and could pick him up in the Autodraft. After you took Burns I panicked and grabbed Bosio. I've never used him before but it looks like he can be OK.

I don't know why I picked up Burns. I wanted a lefty and the cheaper lefties weren't appealing to me. I've never had him (maybe I picked him up once mid-season). I actually had at one point in the draft convinced myself to pick up Bosio then decided against it because he usually isn't picked in the pre-season. Something about this live draft is making me take chances on guys I don't usually use. Dusty Baker has even crossed my mind.

Anybody ever use Langston?

Grich is overpriced because he only has 2 years worth the cost. Remy is underpriced. That being said, if you have a lot of cash saved up, Grich has a lot of upside. Gooden is also overpriced and I took him (but now I cant afford anyone over 2 million).

On the subject of cheap lefties, I dont understand why Tommy John isn't more appreciated. He is an S8* and has 4 good years. He is never lights out but I think he is a great #3 or 4 starter.

Please Wait for Crossingroads

Postby YountFan » Thu Sep 14, 2006 5:12 pm

We can wait for CR. it gives us some time to ponder this crazy draft.

Dear Ms LD

I have a friend who got involved in a live draft and it may cost him his SOM relationship. He is normally a steady guy, but somehow was pulled off the straight and narrow.

It all started with the 1st pick when he selected Schmidt, changed his mind and took Gary Carter, Then he took Schmidt and finally Carter. Had SOGCOMMANDO been around how knows the final outcome. Then he lost Murray with pick #2 and kicked his dog.

He was drafting with Riverfront in mind and took McGwire, because he lost Murray and then some other guys too (Hayes, Lemon, HoJo). Then he was overcome with playing in Fenway (even though he drafted othrwise) and jumped early to get it.

Somewhere along the way he let starting pitching a middle infield slip from his mind. Then, for reasons unexplained, he goes with a 5 man staff!

The man needs some help and direction. I am afraid this is the kind of thing that just may cause him to try Fantisim!

Can you help?

Dear YF,

Indeed, your team is a mess. It's so bad, its looking like one of those Haker teams. You must change things immediately! Start by trading Carter to the Hakers for Simmons, and we can go from there.

Sincerely,

Ms LD

Dear Ms LD,

I will talk to my friend about trading Carter to Hakmusic for Simmons, but I will advise him against it because 1) his ballpark is Fenway and 2 )Simmons is a switch hitter who is somewhat ballpark dependent.

I know my friend is a big fan of Simmons and just may take your offer.

Sincerely
YF

PS: Good luck to to the 87 Hakers in the finals.

Whoa, it's pretty bad YF if you're considering Fantasim...

Mmmm, Fanta....

I think the whole drafting universe got shifted when Billingsballers took both Mattingly and Will Clark. I'm not saying those were bad choices, I'm just saying that it left 1 less studly firstbaseman out there and forced me down to Spiderbite Joyner.

PS I just figured that you were going to put Hojo at SS and Lemon at 2b.
