Franchise Theme League

The rules in that league capped a non-carded player at 4 million if he had played for your team and 2 million if not. I got rid of the 4 million limit thinking that might help the teams out with less natural roster value to work with, but we could also raise the 2 million cap on pure free agents to maybe 3 or 4 if everybody else wants to.

I kind of like it the way it is, but I will go with the flow. I also want to play a natural teams league.

Now that's an interesting idea.

I have looked at this thread a bunch of times hoping the rules would change a little...........Since the Tigers are spoken for I would have to play my other favorite....The Devil Rays....However, the way the rules are now I would not have a chance.......I have no problem leaving it at 80 mil or 60..either way......What I would like to see is the ability to draft ANY player who has played for the Rays...That would give me some decent players to add to my 20 from my team.........So in other words..lets take Randy Winn for example.....Say someone has the Giants but I auto draft him higher, I would get him based on the fact he has played for the Rays before. So if you have a good player from your team you'd better draft him high because someone could claim him in the draft.....Make the draft open for any player that has played for your team---no matter what roster he is on now....So basically on your draft card you could have 5 players who used to play for your team listed...but not neccessarily at the top because someone may have some of your guys on their list...So you would still have to rank them accordingly.......Anyone like this better :?:

OK by me.

Another idea would be to group the divisions by record so the weaker teams play more games against the weaker teams.

Intrigued by both the any past -- I'd forward, or current ('06) -- player concept and 60M rule. Would make things a bit more creative.

Pelzer's idea is why I keep looking at this theme. I've read the thread stating the best team on paper might not win, but I sure don't wish to toss $25 away by having to compete against a team that to begin with has Jeter, Sheffield, Matsui, ARod, Giambi, a much better than average (card wise) pitching staff, and Riviera to close out the games. Not to mention how the team would be able to fill the gaps with the multitude of players that once played for them as well. Its why I had originally asked about ARod being available to both TX and Seattle, or just NY.

Anyways, it's not my theme league, it's not my option as to how to work it, nor how the teams are decided. The only choice is whether I wish to play in it or not. Folks can easily set up a theme league to their own liking.

That said... perhaps this league would fill faster if you make it a 2 team theme league with the 12 pick getting the 13th team as well and so on down the line, with present rules intact.

I'm up for anything, we just need the rules set so it can finish filling.

If you do past players as a free for all, then the 20 carded player rule needs to be gone.

Doing real teams is a challenge as well, especially since you are forced to keep 20 carded players. You realize that leave me about 8 million for 5 players right? I won't be able to get any studs that say the devil rays could get. As Ndowdy said, having St. Louis doesn't mean you will make the playoffs.
