I'm certain I have Valenzuela's bad year (87, is it?). I've been scanning the FA wire, thinking of dumping him. I look at his card, though, and it's really not all that bad -- just that string of walks on 4-7,8,9 on the RH side. He's got K's all across his 6's on the right side, and 6-8 is not an automatic single chance. I have 1's up the middle, so that decreases his hits allowed (or should, anyway). Thing is, not a lot of good options available. Blyleven was dumped early, giving up hit per inning, 0-3, but 25 K's in 32 innings. This is a hitter's league, and I worry about getting Bert's big HR card. Also, I'd rather replace a lefty with a lefty. However, teh best available unused option is Tanana. I have a good Barker, a good Carlton, and Show was excellent in his first start (dropped Langston to get Eric). I'm wondering if I should go for Tanana (none of his years are awful) to maintain balance, or take a chance on Blyleven. If I go for Frank, I'd have extra money to beef up the bullpen or lineup. If I go for Bert, who may've been dumped too soon, I could have a great 1-2 in Carlton/Bly, should I make playoffs.
Any ideas?
