DH against RHP...

DH against RHP...

Postby bomp helium » Fri Sep 22, 2006 10:08 pm

hello...

I'm putting a team together (the current 2006 version) and have Huff as DH against RHP...I've got some extra cash (and can easily arrange more), so I'm thinking about an upgrade...wondering if anyone has any hot tips for DHs against RHP in the 2-4 million range...has anyone had exceptional luck with anybody in this position?...any sleepers or great values?...

I'm playing at Kaufman...the division and league are pitching oriented (ave. BPHR = 1-7), and slightly lefty favored...

balanced league as far as pitching, with perhaps slightly more LHP than normal...

thanks in advance...

In the 05' set.........Soriano and Shawn Green have both done well for me as a DH........Especially Soriano...He is tough to beat as a DH for under 3 mil...I have used him as DH at Kauffman with some pretty nice results....Huff is also pretty good as a DH.....The thing about Huff is--If you do have to play him at 1b or 3d he won't hurt your "D" as bad as if you have to use Soriano. :D

Here is Huff at Kauffman----Durazo would also be an excellent choice for you as you can see if you can spare the money

my team is the current 2006 version...with cards from the 2005 season...

I'm not sure if that's the "Huff" you were referring too...he's hardly a jewel in the field...

If you need a leadoff hitter get Garabito.

If you need a slugger Soriano

High BA go for Tyner

it really depends on your lineup and what place in it your are planning on filling.

too many platoons.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I don't like the makeup of your team. I think it's becasue I'm used to starters and cheap bench, and you have a bunch of platoony looking guys.

personally, I'd rather have Casey at 1b, and get a real C and 3b. Plus I don't like alou, injury prone and doesn't hit to his card in my limited experience. Winn would be much nicer there. Dont understand Perez, is that who you are platooning at DH? Not worth it in your park.

for instance, if you Kept Hudson, Rollins, Sullivan, Shef and liquidated the rest, that would be about 30 mil. Redmond (C), casey (1b), Wright (3b) and Winn (LF) would leave you a little less than 10 mil for a Dh + backups. Even keeping Helton over Casey (better vs righties, not a 15 gamer) you could still get a decent Dh still.

If you could save an extra 5+ mil to put in your pitching, you could move to Pedro + 4 good non * starters (Duke I love, Beckett also in your park)

Well I'm tired and rambling, hell I might not be making any sense. Hope I didn't confuse you at all.

interesting comments, Geekor...

of course I can't dump most of the team, but I appreciate your opinions...

Perez is the DH vs. LHP, Catalanato vs. RHP...(Huff is gone)...I agree perez may be overkill, but there's not much to pick from...I'll look around...

catcher is not a platoon; just zaun, lumbering down to first after a walk. kendall is for when HAL goes crazy and sticks the backup catcher in the field; might as well have a decent hitter...

I wanted Griffey or Duffy in CF, settled for Lofton...scares me too...I've got Sullivan to back up Alou and Lofton when they go down...

Alou has been rock steady for me on several teams (if you don't mind the injuries)...

I kind of like the Lowell/Koskie platoon...never used it before; quite a few LHP in my division so Lowell might earn his paycheck...

I'll think about Helton for casey and look for a cheaper RH DH and put that money into a #3 SP...probably too late (post waivers) to switch to a five-man rotation, but I'll see what other *SP are available (Burnett, at last glance, is the best of what's left)...

what do you think of the pitching?...that always seems to be my downfall...I'm not sure that I've ever gotten the pitching settings right...

thanks for the feedback...not confusing in the least (although a bit drastic)...I've got a .530 % in 2006, so I'm not a COMPLETE idiot...

Sean Casey is appealing...but don't those DPs frighten you?...but it sounds like your teams have done well with him...

I agree, Helton is overpriced...and Casey certainly is cheaper...

perhaps I'm overrating the importance of DPs?...
