Intentional Walks?

I have Hrbek hitting third and Scmidt batting cleanup, yet after 15 games Hrbek has 3 intentional walks. Is HAL trying to tell me i have Schmidt's bad card?

Might be that Hrbek's BAL against RH's, in conjunction with the pitcher's BAL versus lefties, makes the matchup versus Schmidt supposedly better. Hrbek might be, say, a 5R, and perhaps the pitcher is, say, a 2R (making Hrbek effectively two steps better than he already is). Assume Schmidt is something like a 3L (I don't remember his actual card BAL's), and the pitcher is then 3 steps better versus Mike than Kent. In theory, this is a better matchup. I don't know anything about the two players' clutch ratings, but that also could have something to do with it. And finally, the "HAL's just dumb" theory may apply here, as well. :)

Presuming HAL is issuing the IBBs via RHPs, Hrbek has one bad clutch season vs. RHPs (1988: -14 vs RH / -8 vs. LH)

Otherwise, Kent's 1982 (-1) is the only remain negative clutch season.

Presuming the IBBs are being issued with two outs and man in scoring position, you can pencil in a few more data points about Kent's card. :wink:

Recommend that you review the box scores in detail and determine whether HAL is giving up the free pass under what circumstances.

Of course, you may find the free passes being issued by teams that owners have modified the IBB strategy too.
