Been trying to get this rotation to test it and finally did

Pete/Adams/Speer/Frock/Rommel

Garber in pen

Goal here is to win in the Playoffs with Pete and Adams pitching the majority of games in both the 5 game and 7 game series

Think it will happen?

Carter/Judge/Evers/Ozzie/Steinfelt/Cuyler/Mays/Joe Jackson in the field

playing in Griffith with Polo,Astrodome, Sportsman in division and a mix across the rest of the league

Yes, you will make the playoffs, I like the concept. I've been considering trying to get Pete and Babe on the same team also, guess you beat me to it.

Keep us posted on your results.

Yes, in the 5 game Semi's, you need a 3-day SP. Depending on the Semis outcome, you might not like the finals matchups. I think you want a good pitcher in the often pivotal game 5 of the finals, see BLo.

Semis
1 Pete
2 Babe
3
4
5 Pete

Off Day

Finals
1 Babe
2
3 Pete
4
5
6 Babe
7 Pete

Also, in this scenario, which is not uncommon, you only have 2 good pitchers in the first 5 games of the finals.

Interesting experiment, sschu

But, in the playoffs, he can also "game the game" and use Pete and Babe as his relievers also and set everyone else on quick hook, avoid LH, avoid RH, max 6 innings, etc.

Like I said, I'd been considering something similar, so I'd be curious to see how it pans out for him.

I figure if I can put maximum dollars into the lineup to support Pete and Babe when they pitch, I don't have to worry so much about the other days because unless the other team can beat my top two, I will win the series.

Also figure my back three has real shot at taking at least one game each series when matched up against other side's 4th starter.

Who knows? Watch me get swept in the semis :)

Please post a link for this team. I would imagine it would be very possible to make it to the playoffs but certainly not assured. Division mates if they were wise would make very lefty oriented teams, but your lack of concern over your divisional rivals tends to make me believe they have not done so.

Assuming Pete wins 32 and Babe 23 you would need 35 victories from Frock/Speer/rommell and Garber. Is slightly more risky than you realize as only 43% of your games will be started by an ace, but unless as I said your divisiono foes realize the danger and adjust their teams they will be in trouble. Would be interesting if Babe got hit by the 15 game injury bug...

I tried this recently with Pete and Ojeda, exactly as described above. HAL ingnored them in each case and went with my "closer" instead. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I'm not sure. Can't hurt to try though.

I don't claim to be an expert on it, but to truly game the game, you need to put all the other pitchers in your rotation and also set them to start in the per game starters, so HAL will avoid using them at all costs.

I've been playing around with 5 man rotations lately and have found that by using the rotation for the dregs and the per game starter options for my studs, I can get Babe Adams a relief appearance every couple of games in addition to his usual starts, not sure if he's pitching at full effectiveness, but he is getting the innings.

That absolutely works in the regular season. I was refering to trying to use your studs [i:2a634857ec]instead of your regular relievers[/i:2a634857ec] in the playoffs. You can't put "reliever only" guys into your rotation to hide them. My experience was HAL found them and chose them over the starters I had put in the relief spots on the strategy page. I can't make that work. Anyone been able to do that successfully?
