Good question Adam. Are you sure this is your first team?

Your hitters don't have to be below $31 million until the start of the season. So, this allows you to add a few coveted hitters to your autodraft list, even if it puts you over the limit. Then you only need to reduce your hitters' salaries, when you can go down to 13 players.

YF, I don't think every team was able to get backups as 1s or 2s (though I did). I think we allowed teams to use 3s or 4s as backups, but they obviously could only start if necessary (injuries). Iceman?

Adam, you can draft $50 million worth of hitter if you want. You just need to be down to $31 by 10PM the Monday the league starts. And then stay there every after. There may be minutes when your over when making FA moves, but before the games start you need to be at $31 million.

BC, I agree it may not be possible, but each P team should make the effort to field such a team. We are dealing with the spirit of the rule here. If the only backup you can get is Riles, he'll have to do. Backups won't play too much anyways

[quote:68521dfa1a]You can have someone like A Griffin who is a 2 as SS and 4 a 2b. I think you may not be able to backup EVERY position with a 1 or 2, but you can probally get backups who qualifies at one position.[/quote:68521dfa1a]

So to make sure I unerstand what you are saying YF. As long my backup is listed as a 1 or a 2 at his primary position, then I can have him be a 3 or 4 if he is a backup, correct?

Can someone tell me if I can do this. Since the only

hitters on a pitchers team that can have worse than a are either catcher and the DH, can I draft say Vince Coleman for my pitchers team. Coleman has a 3 (or 4) fielding rate, and therefore can only be my DH, but instead I don't use him in the starting lineup and instead he is my pinch runner.

First is that ok?

Second, if it is, than what if HAL puts him in the field after pinch running, as far as I know I can't control if HAL puts him in the field after pinch running, so have I broken the spirit of this league?

If someone can answer back as soon as possible, I would appreciate it as it will change my draft list. (BTW...the player I am looking at is not Coleman, possibly not even to have a pinch runner, but if it applies to pinch running it should apply to pinch hitting)

Again you are correct. Coleman can only be in your STARTING lineup as DH, but what HAL does after the games starts is what HAL does. Your responsibility is to set starting lineups that meet the rules (unless you have bigtime injuries). As long as you do this you'll be OK. If Coleman pplay LF due to injury, so be it. Rickey makes a great pinch runner too.

Side note: Back in the 80's (the year he set the season record for SB's) when I was at the Colisuem, all the fans did when he was on base was chant "Run Rickey Run". Best part was, the A's were done by like 7 or some other really large amount, yet all the fans cared about was seeing one of the most underrated players "run".

My Hoboken Astro Homers are ready to load into the West and Smack around the Jack Murphy and Kingdome squads. I really had a lot of fun bulding this draft card and I do expect to finish 10,11 or 12 in waivers. :D

19.98 Pitching budget. Looks to be in line.
