Thanks guys. 2 NLD titles in 5 seasons is very satisfying for me. Especially given the way I have (under)performed with this current set of cards. :roll:

By the way qk, that would have been your 3rd NLD title. Couldn't allow that to happen. :P

So Big, feeling any better about the ratings or did you ignore them for this NLD? This isn't sarcasm, I'm really curious. (Hard to tell in the e-format!)

As for the playoffs, they are such a carp shoot. Someone can get hot, someone can be cold. It's such a short series. Sometimes a team that is good enough to make the playoffs isn't as well suited for the playoffs. :?

In any case, when do we start? How about Oct 1??

Absolutely nothing against Big's squad the Finals result surprised me. I guess since QK put me away so easily my sense of judgement was cloudy. Congrats to Big! :)

Joe, I'll be honest with you, the ratings are a bit of a sore subject with me. I feel like I invested quite a bit of money in them this season, used them exclusively for my first 22 teams, and ended up with 1 playoff team and a .460 winning percentage. Not good. :shock:

Since returning from a little break from the game, I have gone [i:246eb2622c]au naturel [/i:246eb2622c](i.e [i:246eb2622c]sans [/i:246eb2622c] ratings) again, and seem to have regained my form. 3 completed teams, 3 playoffs and 1 title. In all, my post-hiatus teams are posting a more respectable .525 winning percentage. Phew. :)

Nothing surprises me anymore in this game Jeep!

I must have been the "team of destiny" though, as I put down 3 teams that looked better than mine on paper. Funny old game... :D

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I wonder why the ratings did so poorly for you? :? I know your first NLD team majorly under performed.

I have to say I've never had someone be so disappointed. Or at least tell me as much.

FYI guys, AT & I are squaring off in our SOM Redux fantasy league in the Game Day Ritual site. Very fun stuff as he & I had the top 2 teams most of the year.

I've used JTJ's ratings system for the 01, 02 & 03 seasons - usually quite successfully. Haven't used them for 06 though - wonder if the increased TSN pricing has had an effect on the success of their rating system.

AT,

The ratings were dead on for the AD league that we participated in and I believe they weren't that far off in the last NLD. The NLD is usually so competitive and hands on that they aren't as good an indicator as other cases.
