Keeper league--with variations (well, MAYBE)

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

I'm like canauscot, I'd prefer the "purer" decade league rather than the team-based decade league.

Suits me. I'll look for a player spreadsheet for that too.

Check out the old DECADE LEAGUE RULES thread started by BC Manager that has been bumped up to the first page in this forum. We can use those rules or some variation of them for our league!

Non-franchise decade league

The original Decleague works for me. I'd still like to see some sort of mystery/variety in it regarding free agency. Perhaps the simplest thing is to protect a core group, a sizable one maybe (15?), and autodraft the rest. Anyway, we can vote on everything after we get 12 managers. LM has graciously offered to lend his expertise (thanks).

Anyway, let's fill this up!

BTW, I LOVE this idea

"(i.e. we know who we are going to lose rights to and just like in the real world maybe trade a guy to a contender who we are possibly going to lose anyway and we can draft from the new crop with that in mind)"

That might be the best way to do FA. You can consider the trade option if the team isn't going anywhere, maybe get a second draft pick in return.

Good thinking.

I'm still interested

I'm in favor of the old Decade League with some type of FA. Sorry I still have limited internet access for the next few days.

Some sort of Free Agency would be a nice twist. I agree with making it known early on if someone is a Free Agent. Another option is to assign contract lengths somehow to each team member. That'd probably be too much of a hassle though.

Wow, I never realized Ed Farmer had a 1973 card in this game. And very cool sorting feature on the years. I need to figure out how to do that in Excel!
