I guess the draft has already started. What was decided on the .75ers? Can you keep any of them? Are they "exempt" from retirement?

I am assuming that a players career in this league is from the first year on his strat card to the last year - not his real life first and last year. Is this correct?

I think we need to nail down these rules before we proceed very far with the draft.

Also, can we have a longer clock than 15 minutes? How about an hour?

Re: Our rules (this is really it, all right?)

[quote:9bff793f67="honestiago"]
MEANWHILE: Let me go ahead and rule on these league issues:

ORIGINAL DECADE RULES APPLY (with variations [see below]).

Our variations:

SALARY CAP: 80M (subject to vote after five seasons; never to be higher than 100M).

PITCHER'S BAT--this is real baseball. (he said, smugly). After every two seasons, we can revist this issue.

KEEPER .75's: limit 4 per team (2 players, 2 pitchers). As we've been warned by a Decade League veteran about this, we should be careful with these. Draft as many as you need, but only keep two at the end of each season.

TEAM NAMES: A combination of manager's actual geographic location (either the actual city, someplace nearby, or even the state itself [if we have a buncha NYC's, or NY's so be it! [hell, they had three teams at one time in the 40s-50s, right?) and a mascot of the manager's choice.

TEAM DIVISIONS: determiend randomly, as per decade league rules.

See the ruling on 75¢ players above. As for years of player elligibility....A player's rookie year is his first carded year and he retires after his last carded year. The only exception are the 75¢ players who are all elligible every year.

I agree about the 15 minute clock. That is extremely fast. My suggestion is a 2 hour clock is about as fast as we should do. If most of us use proxies the draft should go relatively quickly. We don't really want to skip people if they don't pick every 15 min. A 2 hour clock would give us time to reset our proxies as the draft proceeds. Some of us do have to actually work for a living!

A lot to read

Postby honestiago1 » Sat Sep 30, 2006 1:28 pm

Hi. Just got back. I need to read all the posts, but won't get to them 'til later. We DO need to get the stadium draft done before moving on to players, though (can't draft without knowing where we're going to play). Let's do that, then I'll look at what everyone wrote and resolve those issues at another time.

(3 hitters parks so far -- I might have to draft some hitters :D )

Yes, if we could have a bit more time between selections, for those of asleep down under while you are all awake! I'll try and follow LMBombers description of group proxy settings

Most live drafts have NO CLOCK during the first round to make sure that everybody is aware of the draft and can access the draft site ok.

Public Stadium Proxy

Postby LMBombers » Sat Sep 30, 2006 5:39 pm

I will take either Yankee Stadium or Memorial Stadium. Both have identical ratings so I don't care which one I get.
