If I didn't have to work for a living, I would develop a Web site to do timed draft rounds: The draft would begin when everybody has a full roster submitted, with up to 12 alternates per round.
A round then would run every "X" hours. If a team's first choice were taken, the computer would start going through alternates and later rounds until it found someone not taken. (If absolutely everybody were taken, it would hunt the free agent list for the next most expensive substitute as the autodraft does now.)
After each round, teams would be able to go in and make adjustments, as long as their adjustments still resulted in a full roster.
It would be much less frustrating than wondering when your turn will be up next, but still provide the ability to modify strategies based who you did not get, who other teams in your division have taken, what positions are going fast, etc.
