Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

There will be some interesting decisions to be made during the season. What if one of your 4-5M guys is obviously in his bad year? Do you drop him for someone else or hang on to his sorry butt because he still has 2-3 more years for your team before retirement? If you drop him some other team might pick him up and he could come back to haunt you for his last 2-3 years on another team! :D

I can't wait to start!

BTW, We are making nice progress on the draft so far. At this pace it won't take too long. I can already see that after 6 or 7 rounds the good talent will really be mostly gone and we will be drafting stiffs hoping for their one good year.

Randolph

I was REALLY hoping he'd fall to the second round. This is a LOT different from the regular draft. You can usually get great pitchers later on in autodraft (3-5 picks). Not here. Blyleven and Soto -- GONE! My strategy has changed four times since we started, based on what others are doing (I'm afraid -- I'm VERY afraid).

here's to the STIFFS! :o

Yup, we're going to quickly get into drafting stiffs and hoping we get a good card out of them. It'll be interesting to see when some of the better players who are only around for 2 or 3 seasons will get drafted...

It'll also be interesting to see how league cumulative stats vary from season to season, especially in the juicy middle years where most every player will be available...

Blyleven

I was actually hoping Clark would be available at my pick and then take Blyleven or Soto with my second pick (and then Thomas or Randolph with pick 3). That sure didn't work out. There's just not a lot of talent out there.

when the debate is Parker or Cooper for the 14th overall selection, you know that there is a paucity of talent...

What'll really be fun, and different, about this format will be figuring out how to LIVE WITH that collection of stiffs -- especially when bad years happen to good ballplayers (not unlike the real deal, eh?). Or when, and this'll probably happen to me, I get 2 crummy years back-2-back!
Somebody may be lucky with a 1-1-2-1 up the middle, but I expect to see a lot of 3's and some 4's!

I spoke too soon. I think as soon as I posted that the drafting ceased. Go figure.

Zzzzz.... Zzzzzzz.... Zzzzzzz..... I cannot believe that at least one pick didn't occur during monday night football. I cannot put in any kind of coherent Proxies in tonight so if my pick comes up early tomorrow I will be out of pocket until 6PM EST. I doubt that this will be a problem at this time, but just incase I wanted to let everyone know...
