Strat card-- injury question

Strat card-- injury question

Postby Munich_Man » Wed Oct 26, 2005 6:42 am

If a player has a clutch rating on an injury roll, in a clutch situation, is he injured and given the hit or is the injury ignored completely?

I'm thinking McMullin specifically against lefties, but have seen it occasionally on other cards. Any help from the real STRAT gurus out there is appreciated.

In face-to-face games, the result completely changes to a SINGLE**. Or at least it did back when I played face-to-face.

Hey Rick, the rules state that "an out reading would become a single **."

So, "2- lo max + injury" would become "single**"

I have not seen a player get hurt on a hit.

Well, not yet, anyway.

How the computer handles it I cannot say. But my interpretation of the rules is that the injury stands.

This would be a good question for someone like qksilver who sims a lot of seasons on the cdrom game. But he may only play the 200x games so might not see this thread. Plus I am not sure what he is called on these new boards or even if he is still around. Have not seen him posting in a while.

I agree...the result changes due to the situation, but since the injury is an additional occurence (hence the "+ injury), then instead of a lineout and injury, it is a single** and injury....

This is completely unhelpful in answering your question, Rick, but I remember fondly the paper, basic Buster Adams card with his Homerun plus injury.

I figured it was excessive celebration after the play.

Guy gets a clutch hit and gets hurt on the basepaths. What's the problem?

Not a problem Petrosian, just a question. does the $ take precedence and simply turn the roll into a SINGLE **, as stated in the "How to read the hitter's card" or does it turn into a SINGLE** but with the injury intact? It's just not clear to me.

Actually Ozzie Timmons had a 42 AB card with Tampa maybe 6 years ago. He had HOMERUN + Injury at 3-2 if I remember right. It was really funny...except when I rolled it

We, as a group could keep an eye out for the play on which a guy gets injured.

As soon as someone reports back with a hit and an injury, we'll know.

Or we won't see a hit with an injury, and we'll continue to pondah
