also, what are we refrencing as the ultimate authority on whehter a player is african american or not. from having had this rule previously for pitchers, I know there are names in this list you never considered, or have very little way of confirming they're black.

I guess I am confused too. I thought Doby was a HOF and thus matches his own name.

I calculate a "5" for Doby.
1 for "D" in last name, 1 for HOF name match and 3 points for playing in the Negro Leagues for the Newark Eagles

If you can't match your own name. Then "Larry" matches LARRY KIMBROUGH. Larry was a pitcher for the Philadelphia Stars, Richmond Giants, Homestead Grays and Pittsburgh Crawfords from 1941 to 1958.

I get a 6 for banks:

5 for the Monarchs (not an additional 1 for being black because he gets the MAX 5 under that prong) and 1 for Ernie matching Negro leaguer with first name of Ernest Total 7.

on the ONE negroleaguer per team rule, I thought that extended to only one of the following list of players in the ATG3 set with negroleague service.:

H. Aaron - OF - 50's
G. Altman - OF - 50's
S. Bowens - OF - 60's
L. Doby - OF - 50's
W. Mays - OF - 60's
D. Pope - OF - 50's
C. Harmon - OF/IF - 50's
M. Minoso - OF/IF - 50's
A. Smith - OF/IF - 50's
J. Robinson - OF/IF - 50's
J. Gilliam - IF - 50's
E. Banks - IF - 50's
E. Howard - C/IF - '60s
R. Campanella - C - 50's
J. Black - SP/RP - 50's
J. Wyatt - RP - 60's.

I took that list from prior post.

those of you paying attention may have noticed I picked aaron, then deleted the post. this draft HAS TO STOP here until we FIX rule 7. if I draft aaron, and try to stick to unc's same decade rule, there is NO WAY to comply. there are very few 50's outfielders in the set to begin with, and many of them are on the list of negro leaguers, of which you're only allowed to have one. pope, harmon, aaron, doby, mays, minoso, al smith. even if you were lucky enough to get two of those guys competing against the teams with mays/doby/aaron...it's still a less than stellar outfield, and I don't see enough 50's outfielders out there to fulfill the quota.. mays might be worth it since you solve the cf issue, and he is afterall, mays. but I would even re-think the doby pick based on what i'd be left to surround him with in the outfield. I'd like to keep this thing moving, but that's a BIG problem. suggestions?

if you can only have 1 negro leaguer, they should not have to adhere to any decade rule. thus, by you picking aaron first pick, you can use the 50's or another outfield decade if you want. that is my understanding.

if negro leaguers are excluded from decade rule, fine...although it's gonna make these rosters even more convuluted than they already are. I'll go back to aaron if that's agreed to be the interpretation.
