Iron Glove League

Interestingly enough I don't think 1 team will score more than 950 runs. Compare that with the Tim Redding / Dewon Brazelton theme where no team scored less than 975 runs.

Looks like crappy fielding beats crappy SP any day!

Hey AT, I just finished up a Tim Redding league in which the highest scoring team scored 1785 Runs and the Lowest scoring team scored 1322 runs!!!

There were 4669 Homeruns, .360 League batting average, .434 OBP.

Lots and lots of pitching and defense going on in that league.

Oh, and the most shocking thing you've ever heard in your life. Craig Dingman ended up the Cy Yound award winner!

My team has officially called it a season. Unfortunately they didn't realize that just because they're not at the park playing ball, the games will still count.

Congrats to the P/O teams:

AT
Pczarnecki (good showing)
Dr. Tax
Terry101

I'll have to pull for my division mate, AT. 8)

As for my team here, all you can say is it sucked, the whole year, too. Yall will of course see me tons of times again, but I can guarantee it will be in a league with Leather, not Iron.

Congratulations to pczarnecki on advancing to the Finals. Considering my horrid playoff record I am no longer surprised. Past 3 semi-finals playoffs before this one, I was up 2-0 before getting losing 3 games in a row, so being tied 1-1 and losing both games at home isnt a big difference.

Overall Playoff Record: 90 appearances, 14 wins (15.5%).

In other words, while I make the playoffs at a 33% rate (about the normal since 4 teams out of 12 make playoffs = 33%), I usually have less than 25% chance of winning the championship after making the playoffs and I suppose the average there should be 25% (1 in 4 shot).

[b:f8b6c178a1]Team Awards:[/b:f8b6c178a1]

MVP - M. Alou / K. Lofton

Their OBP at the top of the order helped spearhead my offense. If only they hadn't missed 20+ games each to injury, might have won enough games to possibly get home field advantage during the semi-finals.

CY Young - B. Arroyo / B. Webb

My #3 & #4 SPs pitched like Aces, winning 38 games between them.

Rolaids Relief - Joe Nathan

Solid effort by our closer helped us win enough games to clinch division.

Surprise Performance - Arroyo / Webb

Definitely was not expecting the great results I got. Secondary consideration to Caseys solid performance at Minute Maid as a LH Threat.

Disappointing Performance - Carlos Zambrano

I was hoping to get his stats out of Webb or Arroyo ... not have them pitch like him & him pitch like a #5!

Team MVP:

Miguel Cabrera (The guys hits everywhere...)

Team Cy Young:

Barry Zito

Rolaids Relief:

Valverde (kinda by default. He din't picth all that well for me).

Eyre actually pitched much better than him. Duaner Sanchez gets a vote here as well. I seem to get nice seasons from this sub $1 RP. He usually performs like a $3-4 million RP for me.

Surprise Performance:

David Eckstein
Pete Orr
Marlon Byrd- usually does well for me. He plays good D, and hits LH's very well in a pitchers park. (good price as well)
Ryan Doumit-+ clutch on 7 is nice.

Disappointing Performance(s):

Valverde
Chad Tracy
Cliff Floyd (nice power #'s, but was hoping his OB would have been better)
Glavine
