HM, as I understand it, you can have as many 1's on defense as you want, MINUS the two 4's you have to start. Or, have NO 1's anywhere, and then you don't have to use any 4's.

[b:8a6b6a2034]As a side note, I propose we throw in the 90 A's with the 80's decade. Otherwise, none of the A's will be useable.[/b:8a6b6a2034]

the rule stated you can only have one 1 defensively in your infield, and one in your outfield. is the catcher your infield, or if you had a 1 at catcher, could you also have one between 3rd and first, and another in the outfield, or is the catcher your infield 1? and if he ends up being your only 1, like campanella for example, does that automatically mean you've got to carry a pair of 4 defensive starters elsewhere?

This is my first SS theme league. Are they all this confusing? I'd imagine they probably are. Part of the appeal (the diverse, wacky themes) is also part of the headache. HM, you are right, I had forgotten about that distinction (one in the IF, one in the OF). Good question about the C. Hopefully, MM logs on soon to answer that. And, the more I look at the OFs & IFs by decade, the more it becomes apparent that most of us will be forced to start inferior to scrub players at some positions, in order to meet all the requirements. I'd guess that was the goal of that theme. One thing for sure, whatever my roster ends up looking like, it will be unlike anything I have put together before! :)

my understanding was a catcher was part of the infield, so a 1 at catcher is your infield 1. also, if you have any 1's you need 2 4's, meaning if you have 1 1 then you are still required to have 2 4's.

in terms of the .5 sp rule, maybe we should open this up to the non-decade rule, and limit each team to only 1 of them, since there are 19 total.

lastly, the draft should go pretty quick today since the next 4-5 people seem to be online pretty consistently, so hopefully we'll be stuck on memphisjohn by the time he gets back.

was hoping since catchers were excluded from the decade rule, and could be a decade unto themselves, we could exclude them from 1's, but that's probably wishful thinking. it makes this next pick very tough, because getting the 1 at catcher now excludes ALL 1's, from the 1920's,( since hornsby set my decade,) at 3b,ss,2b! yikes indeed!!!
then again, my catcher doesn't have to come from the 20's...especially if he's a negro leaguer or jew, and so maybe, that would also exclude him from 1 defensive rule?
