For those of you cursing my pick of Teixiera, all I have to say is that I have a great platoon at 1B plus a great defensive replacement now for that Pujols.

LMBombers: I have J. Estrada available if you still need a C that is slanted towards RHP.

I also have Betemit available, but would need more than what you have listed.

questions answered

Postby LMBombers » Mon Oct 16, 2006 5:08 am

A while back in this thread some questions were asked. I copied those questions, since they have now been buried, and PM'd them to the commish. Below are his responses. Based on this it appears that no trades can occur before games are played. I don't like this rule as we have had some good trade talk going on. This sort of squashes the fun of trades prior to the season. MAYBE WE CAN CHANGE THIS RULE? Also based on question 1 it looks like Teixeira will not be going anywhere.

1) can a team trade either of the two players from the supplemental draft rounds? (it appears not but I want to be sure before I select) no they will be like bonus babies they must stay with your team all year you can pass during supp draft however

2) if a team makes an uneven (e.g. 2 for 3) trade forcing that team to drop a player, is that dropped player now available to others under rule #1? If the player dropped is one of those traded for, that is he never really was on the roster, is he still subject to being drafted by others? if trade is before the season then no player is still part of your roster after season starts same rule he is avail to anyone for 3 days 9 games if unclaimed he is still your property

3) Is there any grace period between trades. By this I mean, if I trade 3 for 2 with the intention of following up with a 2 for 3 trade, do I have to bring up an other player in the meantime? If not, how long is the grace period? hadnt thought about this one but i think we can have same 3 day 9 game period like the waivers

4) Can trades be made exclusively with players who are not on anyone's 25 man roster (a trade of minor leaguers)? no they have to be on the 25 man roster

5) When do the 25 man rosters have to be in and can we trade before then? you can trade anytime 25 man rosters are set after first series

if you have suggestions i would be glad to hear them and consider them

I personally would love to see trading start now, if not before. Trading to me is one of the more fun things we can do and in a normal league we all know how difficult it can be to do. In this type of league it will be much easier and if we can start now, imho, it would be more fun...just my 2 cents.

Whatever the comish decides is & will be fine by me though.

Ok, now I'm even more confused. If the 25 man roster is not set until AFTER the first series(#5) (I think it should be set at some point before the first series) and no trades can be made of players not on the 25 man roster, then no trades can be made until after the first series unless a team wants to restrict itself by setting its 25 man roster early.

I suggest the following:
Rosters are to be set 24 hours before the first game.
Bonus babies may not be traded or dropped
Prior to setting the roster, all non-bonus players are subject to assignment and may be traded thereby allowing uneven trades.
Once the season starts, at least one player from 25 man roster must be on each side of the transaction but the players involved are subject to assignment but must be assigned (roster to 25) prior to the next game.

just a sugestion, I defer to the commissioner.

ATTENTION:

IF TRADES ARE NOT ALLOWED UNTIL AFTER THE SEASON START, I WOULD LOVE TO CHANGE MY PICK, IF POSSIBLE.

trading starting now

Postby rgimbel » Mon Oct 16, 2006 8:54 am

I have no problem with trading starting now however the supp players cannot be traded. before the season starts any players can be dropped without being subject to the waiver rules stated before those rules only start after first series is played. just to summarize

1. 200m adv dh frenzy(doesnt make a diff noone can draft your players)

2. after auto draft rosters must be set at 25 players. the only exceptions are uneven trades if you end up with more than 25 you must imm drop if you end up with less than 25 you have 3 days 9 games to get back to 25 and inj when you can pick up a replacement player for an injured player of more than 3 games however once the injured player is healthy you must drop one player to get back to 25 and he is subject to waiver rule.

3. you can begin trading immediatly but once rosters are drafted you can only trade players on your rosters not in "minors"

4. You have unlimited drops without the waiver rule before the season starts however if you drop a player after first series he is subject to waiver rule meaning that every other team has 3 days or 9 games on a first come first served basis to pick him up if he "clears waivers" he then becomes your property again and noone else can take him.
