Seven starting pitchers (including four of my 5-man rotation) used in 18-inning marathon. Typical '69 game: lone stretches without being able to score.

I had to check this post out as I just had an 18 inning marathon. Surprise, it was my 18 inning game. Amazing that Kilkenny pitched the last 8, gave up 10 hits, 4 walks, but still shut 'em out. Even better,Kilkenny started the next game (and won again) after pitching 8 innings in relief, and won again.
Had my per game starters already set-up, and did not even notice Kilkenny was scheduled to pitch until this morning. I am just happy to have overcome a 9-1 lead.

Kilkenny goes 8 shutout innings in relief and Gibson can't get a hitter out. HAL hates me.
