I also have just one suggestion...as for the poison pills..it seems to me that they need to be approved by the commissioner as all being fairly equal in terms of their penalty. It seems that if one were to make a poison pill that you have to use all latin players...that would be very severe if another vets poison pill is only players less than 4 million. There should be a list developed that the commisioner approves of poison pills that seem to be equal in detriment to the team taking the pill.
I don't want cyanide while another vet gets sacharin. just my thoughts

I agree with the iceman. Lets make a list of poison to select from.

Here are some ideas:
1. Players greater/less than $x, Or position like only .7 relievers or no RP less than 2 mil, or no starters over 5 mil, etc.
2. SS, 2B and CF 3 or greater or other defense related rule
3. Only players from certain teams
4. Limited FA moves durring the season
5. Must use 5 man rotation.
6. Must use 27 man roster
7. Must play in ballpark X
8. Cannot play players in their primary position. Primary position being the position that appears first on their card. Plus cannot play Yount in CF, minus, cannot have any players who play only one position. Cathers may have to be exempt.
9. Must keep play X on their roster all season.
10. ????????

10. The All Minority Team...roster must consist of all non white players ? Tough to do in the 80's...in 2003 I tried an all Latin team and came in around 500. I tried an All African American team and finished 10 games below.

I agree, and with the fact that we still have to fill one

spot we have some time.

So, I turn over to the vets, for ideas on poison pills, I will then decided on anyones I'd rather not have in potential play. The one thing is I do not want to give up my commissioner title and rights. But believe me, since this a new game for me, I will definitely be open to anything that one might proposes (with of course keeping the final decision).

I know, in screen 2 or 3 of this thread, Sykes and a couple of others came up with some poison pill ideas. YF does your list encompass those pills or is your list separate so I should go back and find the post from Sykes and whoever else made suggestions.

just try to keep all eligible ones that we may use fair in their punitive effect.

AP,

I did not review sykes' list, but some of the ideas may be on mine. I suggest you pick 8-10 ideas for your official list. Do you allow the same poison to use given to two or more teams? Maybe we need a poison selecting order too.

Interesting and we can even use the same pick 3's. For example, vet team #1 in East gets to pick the first poison to give there already predetermined West vet team, then East team #2 goes, and so forth.

Hey All, Would love to join this ever increasing learning experience most likely for some of us but I understand some of the best of the best are in this league so would love to have you show me how the proper way is to play this game. I definitely want to be a part of it and with my entry, you will be within 1 of drafting. RohnB
OK, gentlemen. I'm in --- I read the thread, but I'm not sure -- am I supposed to pick my own poison, or is that to be assigned to me by the rookie managers? Either way I'm good --- I'd rather it be assigned to me than for me to generate it, but it doesn't matter a whole lot. I'll hold off on selecting a stadium until I know my poison, if thats legal.

Also, there are so many things mentioned, have any "poisons" been assigned to the veterans yet?

Report abuse Sean, in a nutshell (tomorrow I will give all the details) 24 Oct 2005 20:25

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the rules are simple, it's a regular DH league except the vets will be paired based on their lottery results. The pairing will then decide what the other owner's poison pill is. The poison pill can be anything and it can be multiple parted. In addition, the vets are obligated to answer nebies questions, and all questions must be asked and answered in a public forum. Vets need to give bried explanation why they make a certain move (i.e. dropping a player and then picking up a free agent, they would explain why they picked up thatFA and why they dropped that player). As for the poison pills, there have been a lot mentioned and those items are all just ideas, you can come up with whatever poison pill you would like.

Lastly, I am deciding exactly the rule on this but either we will have a "raid", since we only have 4 newbie owners, prior to game 81 a newbie owner can raid a vet team of any player and that team must accept the trade (as long as it meets TSN requirements). A newbie will be able to do this three times, but each time that newbie owner must raid a different vet team (so in effect, vet teams can lose up to 4 players during the first half of the season). This rule is still being formulated, I am deciding if that is to many players for a vet owner to lose, or if we should lower than "raids" or even have vets be forced to drop a player each time the salary rate changes[/quote:bc95e73c0a]
