Brilliant! A special dispensation to change the dimensions of MM. I'd appreciate it. Or does it just apply to your guys?

As usual Robert, you have a good analysisi except that I am NOT looking for a 1B. I got exactly what I drafted and happy with it (particularly in my division). :D

How did he do?

Postby Stoney18 » Thu Oct 19, 2006 9:41 pm

At a glance:
Needs/Available/Choice:

[quote:214e225413]1.Kings - ( Starting Pitching ) Halladay or Smoltz. Duke is attractive, but already has Willis. Hernandez is pricey and gives up more HRs. Smoltz might be the best fit for the best price(And a *). but my guess is HALLADAY. [/quote:214e225413]

Close with the pitching but Big went RP instead. 3B in the 2nd round.

[quote:214e225413]2. Phanatics - (2B, 3B, SS, maybe CF, SP) maybe Duke for Chacin or Kazmir, but then he'd have to wait to take his chances on a SS or 2B. At Pick #2 you have to take the best available. In a LH oriented hittes Park I'd take ROBERTS. (Other possibilities) Ellis, Furcal, Rollins. [/quote:214e225413]

Too many holes to put $$ into Roberts. Did go 2b, need the D since I'm keeping Young at SS.

[quote:214e225413]3. Elders - (2B/3B) Gotta' be either Roberts or Ellis. Chavez is a possibility in a lH power only park anda need there. The pickins at 3B are pretty slim and not worthy of a #3 pick. This one is a tough call because of Stoney's needs. Chavez is definitely available. I'd be surprised if Stoney doesn't take Roberts - So its a tossup between ELLIS - (High OB vs lefties, great glove) or CHAVEZ - L Power, great D and Available. Other possibility is dumping KRod for Rivera and using him bOTH ways while keeping him from all the RH Park Players. Sounds like a better 1st round pick to me. RIVERA [/quote:214e225413]

Good call on Roberts.

[quote:214e225413]4. Prep - (1B, LF, RF) Helton, Lee, Taxiera, Berkman - lots of possibilities for 1B and maybe the 2nd round. Hardly any OF's of note - certainly not 1st round calibre - except 1 CRAWFORD - My guess for his Park and availability.[/quote:214e225413]

Two in a row with the Crawford pick.

[quote:214e225413]5. Voices - (SS, LF, Setup) - Not many holes except 1 big one. SS's don't last when 4-5 players need them and there are only 2 1st round types with a middle pick. FURCAL or ROLLINS(Whichever one has the highest possibility for HRs.) [/quote:214e225413]

Berkman 1st with setup going for 2nd round. SS in 3rd round.

[quote:214e225413]6. Wolverines - (SS/1B) - In a pitchers park I think you might take a chance on a SS who can field in a later round at a RH Park and a player as good as LEE still available at #6. LEE (Esp. with so many RH or power parks on the road.) [/quote:214e225413]

Wolves put a higher priority on SS in this spot.

[quote:214e225413]7. Snow Leopards - (2B/Closer) To have a a Park like M Maid with all your SP's in place, and most positions filled except for 2B with Pujols, Murton and Vlad on your team - with the only possibility of anyone else taking him befor you except Lee - I think you have to take the chance on RIVERA and hope Lee takes Ellis or Roberts. I'd call Lee and ask him flat out and lock up the best closer for any park. [/quote:214e225413]

Missed waivers but did get the closer post-waivers. KD, hope you're feeling better.

[quote:214e225413]8. CHA CHA's - (1B, 3b RF, DH - Esp a RHH) There are no RF's or 3B worth a 1st round pick. I got all my pitchers except Walker. But could trade down for DUKE and extra cap, but for who. I don't have a Big LH HR hitter tho. So if I were Robert, I'd either take the best RHH available as DH (Not much to choose from with Lee Gone.) So I would advise Robert to take TEXIERA - No injuries, Big LH Power Bat vs Righties and a Big RH Bat vs Lefties with flawless fielding. I wish I liked him better tho. [/quote:214e225413]

A little mis-direction??

[quote:214e225413]9. KNEECAP - (So many needs for this team and Park I don't know where to start.) He's got pitching and middle IF, but not much of anything else for this Park) Best or Highest hitting RHH at a key position he needs filled

with Derek Lee taken, who do you take? MELVIN MORA? Maybe. [/quote:214e225413]

Shelton fits the bill.

[quote:214e225413]10. Shrinks - (1B, Closer, OF) Another tough one to decide. Maybe the Best player or Pitcher available. SMOLTZ or HERNANDEZ? And wait to see who is dropped to fill other positions. Or BEST AVAILABLE OF - Slim pickins tho. [/quote:214e225413]

None of the above.

[quote:214e225413]11. Panters - ( Closer/CF) With all that hitting and specialty Pitching, RIVERA is the best pick for Kev...But I wouldn't expect him to be available this low. How about a solid CF - like HUNTER(Even with the injury roll.) [/quote:214e225413]

Went for the SP.

[quote:214e225413]12. Gamblers - (2B/LSP) He's got Rogers and Washburn, but Duke might look nice in his rotation. But what if Robert takes him. (He could always look for Pettitte in the 1st Waiver minute tho if he does take him.) OR he could Gamble and intuit the SS that will still be available. aka the one Edge doesn't take. FURCAL or ROLLINS. But I'd take DUKE(Or maybe F. HERNANDEZ) - Mostly due to the fact that there are others that need SS's. [/quote:214e225413]

Didn't need much, didn't go for much.

I really thought Texiera...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Fri Oct 20, 2006 2:04 am

Was the most logical choice - As I had some power but no big LH bat. But I have seen Tex really underperform in a lot of leagues I have been in - Altho I had never had him myself. I actually had picked Pena for 1B, but I knew Edge would get him as I took him way too low.

I have found that many players leave F. Hernandez alone and you can sometimes get him even after waivers. But when I took another look before waivers today, I felt that Big was the only one of the top 7 that might take him. And I saw that Tino's card wasn't bad at all against the left side and decided to take him with a low pick, while really strengthening my Starters with FHer and concentrate on 3B with my next 2 pix.

If I thought I could have gotten Derek Lee with the 8th Pick, I might have gone that way. But I thought for sure he'd be gone. With that many holes to fill, i didn't want to chance losing my 1st rounder and went with more pitching and cheaper corners. I'm pretty happy with my team. But I am not done yet.

Well Rob, I am sticking with a 5 man rotating outfield. Of course, 4 of the 5 outfielders are named Jason. Opening day outfielders are Jason Lane, Jason Bay, and Jason Michaels. What are the odds?

Should have named your team...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Fri Oct 20, 2006 11:24 am

The 13th. Or Friday the 13th, Or the Jasons. Or something like that. This is how recurring team names are born. Especially if they win. But since you're not going with any LH Hitters, that's not going to be an issue.

I got both Rivera (later in the frenzy) AND Roberts (who would have been Castillo if Roberts was taken before me). I'm still not winning anything, but do I get credit for snagging both of Roberts suggestions in the same frenzy. I need to get something out of this.

Clever, eh? 8)

It appears to me ...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Fri Oct 20, 2006 1:36 pm

That you had a tremandous Waiver period, Lee...Nabbing the best 2B, albeit very expensive and will hit probably around .230 at home in your park. But his OB, Defense and speed in a LH Park with all the RHP in this league will come in handy. Rivera is lights out.

Personally, i like Capuano much better than Zito in this set. Paired with Lee, those 2 would wreak havoc in a pitchers park like yours.

I just happen to be on a break, while waiting to get a call - which might end up being an unusually slow Friday. I really want to see the new Forrest Whitaker movie - The trailer looked awesome. The genocide that took place in Uganda - I think it was thew early 70's really stuck in my mind. But to tell that story in a 3rd person POV, as the main character is a great idea.

Hope Kav is feeling better today. Robert
