Poison Pill League - Is FULL - Let The Games Begin

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Well Rohn, that sort of throws me for a bit of a curve

Postby AdamPhoenix » Fri Oct 28, 2005 8:45 pm

ball. I was under the impression you were a new owner, having had a 11 teams in the 80's, unfortunately makes you a veteran. Are you willing to play as such?

To all vets, if Rohn is willing to play as a vet, we would have 4 newbies and 7 vets. In my opinion it makes more sense to try and get 1 more vet to make 1 division of all newbies and 2 divisions of vets? Let me know what you think.

I'm sorry for all of this flip-flopping, but jesus (alou), no one ever told me try to get a league together was this difficult. Looking at other threads for leagues, it looked like it would be so easy.

"no rings" vs '"rings"

Postby YountFan » Fri Oct 28, 2005 9:15 pm

Adam,

You could change things slightly from newbies vs vets to "no rings" vs '"rings", or the like. Maybe Rohn has never won a championship, he could go in the "no ring" pool. I have won a championship so I would be in the "ring" pool.. Just food for thoought

If you do it no rings, I would be your 12th person.

There you have it...The Twlefth and Final owner...I will be

Postby AdamPhoenix » Sat Oct 29, 2005 9:27 am

back later today with all of the rules and whetever else we need.

Since we have 4 true new owners, 2 have played but no rings, and 6 vets, I propose the new owners are in the same league (i.e. the East), the 2 intermediate players are divided with on in the central and the other in the west and the 6 vets are divided evenly. I will revise the lottery rules, and will have a list of poison pills to choose from. So to all vets, if you any additionaly ideas for poison pills, now would be a good time to let them be known, as only the items on the list can be choosen as a poison pill.

The League is composed of the following:

New Owners (Beginners)
1. Massachusetts Midnight Riders - Yankee Stadium - MA
2- Genevajack-Jack Murphy-Elmer Fudds-IL
3- Jet40 - Milford Mashers- Kingdome
4 Chief78 - Tiger Stadium, MI

Have Played But No Titles (Intermediate)
1 RohnB - Busch Stadium - Team Name St. Louis Browns
2 UGLYJERRY

Veterans:
1-Sykes
2- Yount Fan - WI
3-Rooksa1958 - Tx
4-T.Richardson
5-Seanreflex - NH
6-Icemen - PA

Will the following owners please pick a lottery state:
Sykes
T.Rich

Will the following owners please pick a stadium (since you will not be subject to poison pills):
UGLYJERRY

Please note, new owners do not need lottery states as we will all go into the East together.

I will take Wrigley, the worst part of this league is that I will still probably lose to Sykes, and YF  .

1. Players greater/less than $x, Or position like only .7 relievers or no RP less than 2 mil, or no starters over 5 mil, etc.
2. SS, 2B and CF 3 or greater or other defense related rule
3. Only players from certain teams
4. Limited FA moves durring the season
5. Must use 5 man rotation.
6. Must use 27 man roster
7. Must play in ballpark X
8. Cannot play players in their primary position. Primary position being the position that appears first on their card. Plus cannot play Yount in CF, minus, cannot have any players who play only one position. Cathers may have to be exempt.
9. Must keep play X on their roster all season.
10. The All Minority Team...roster must consist of all non white players ? Tough to do in the 80's...in 2003 I tried an all Latin team and came in around 500. I tried an All African American team and finished 10 games below.

How about all defense being 1's. Either you waste money for huge salaries or you play with a bunch of no hit wonders. :)
12. How about, must have all starter/releivers?
13. Have to make your roster from a selection of 3 or 4 teams. IE; Padres, Texas strangers, and Mariners. by the way, everyone gets to pick those players too, happy drafting :)
14. after the 82nd game, you must drop your best hitter by OPS, and your best pitcher, by whip.

I really don't like the poison pill idea, but it is fun to think of really really bad things.....
