Boredom with 1969

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Postby BRIANCHIVIS » Sat Oct 29, 2005 11:44 pm

I played one season of 05. I won the league so easily that it was a joke. I was bored to death. All I had to do was calculate the run production of everyone in my division, as long as I had the most expected runs, I was OK. Then all the fun was gone.

I watched my team roll on to the championchip, but I was just bored out of my skull. I knew what would happen.

I still play basic strato with dice. The fun is rolling the dice and seeing the game progress. In the 80's the fun is wondering what your guy is going to do, and being able to play a whole season.

IMHO
ATGII is Stat-O-Matic Baseball with training wheels.
The beauty of "mystery card" Strat which I never fully appreciated until recently is the fact that you cannot predict with RELATIVE CERTAINTY how a player is going to perform. Single season Strat is like being a MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK, you know with relative certainty how every player is going to perform. Once you put your roster together, you set your manager settings, sit back, and wait for the play-offs. YAWN.

Me, I'm really bored with my two '80's teams. There's an element of luck to '80's you don't get in the other games. if you don't get good cards in '80's, you're fucked, no matter how many guys you drop and add. At least you know what you're getting in the other games and can adjust accordingly. And even then, the cards don't always perform up to the stats.

'80's is fun, but don't knock the other games. You guys are starting to sound like a bunch of evangelical Christians.

I have an 80s credit I am trying to get TSN to transfer to 1969. Wouldn't mind trying it just don't want to pay for it.
