J-Pav:

Looks like losing Lilly has caught up with you and I am up against PBTR in the Finals. Am sure that I'll see you soon in another league.

[b:b1dc19dce7]What comes around...[/b:b1dc19dce7]

Every Sunday I pause to worship at my makeshift altar to HAL. I light a candle, plead a few petitions and burn a little incense aound a small bowl of goat from Saturday's dinner leftovers (apologies to my wife).

This is what I got this week...

I won my first tour ring with an 82-80 team winning Game 7 of the Finals on the road against a vastly superior team, with a three run homer in the 10th inning off of Benitez.

At virtually the same moment in time, my 104 win team (best so far) lost Game 7 of the Finals at home (where I was 54-27), after a well rested Lidge surrendered solo homers in the 8th and 9th to blow a two run lead.

My 95 win Coors team never made it to the Finals. They lost Game 5 of the semis at home, where I sported a 60-21 record during the regular season.

And of course, team of destiny [i:b1dc19dce7]The Secret Formula[/i:b1dc19dce7] also lost Game 5 of the semis, where I scored nine runs, six off of Schmidt, but still lost at home. Curses.

I can hardly bring myself to report about the Lab Rats II, who went wire to wire in first place, lost game 162 and [i:b1dc19dce7]fell into a tie for first[/i:b1dc19dce7], lost the tie-breaker and missed the playoffs completely.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

In the credit where credit is due column, I wanted to give a shout out to [b:b1dc19dce7]GlennF[/b:b1dc19dce7] "The Biomechanical Man."

A while back, he posted a team with regard to an unrelated thread, the [i:b1dc19dce7]Horace Mann Lions[/i:b1dc19dce7], reposted here entirely without his permission.

When I saw his pitching staff, I realized that nine of the ten pitchers were available after the FA frenzy in just about every league I've played in this year. This team posted a 3.32 ERA and a HIP ratio under 84% with a $35 million dollar staff ($21.80 SP/$13.24 RP). Now [i:b1dc19dce7]that's[/i:b1dc19dce7] getting value out of your pitching. This team also was a catalyst leading me to some of the insights I've posted in these threads.

And since we're tied for first in the same division of the Three Buck Chuck league with six games to go, I'm wondering if I want to win the division or be the wildcard from the same division. :? We go head to head the final series of the season.

Good luck to [b:b1dc19dce7]PBTR[/b:b1dc19dce7] and [b:b1dc19dce7]stevep107[/b:b1dc19dce7], and GL to [b:b1dc19dce7]Glenn[/b:b1dc19dce7] in our other league.

I'll be considering this Sunday's alms to HAL very seriously the rest of this week...

He he I got lucky and of course, there's the curse of the wild card which you fell victim to.

I noticed you had no clutch in your Secret Formula team. Green hitting 5th is -9 and -12 clutch. Should clutch be important in 5th or not? This really confuses me. So far I have followed this rule, with varying success, but if it was a choice between J. Guillen (positive clutch), Burnitz, (positive) and Varitek, (negative), to bat behind ARod, who would you go for? I have been advised to use all 3.

goredsox33: Your link doesn't work.

Managed to win game 5 of the finals series against PBTR with Clemens on the mound. Am heading home for games 6-7.

Should be feeling confident being up 3-2, but anything can happen.

that's because it's "your team" which takes people to their own team.

you need to copy the shortcut from the front office page. copy any of the links from the todays games schedule.

[b:4d9b013065]Shankly 81:[/b:4d9b013065]

With regard to Green and clutch...if I could've found another $2.82 guy in the FA pool with positive clutch to hit 47 bombs and lead the team in RBIs, I would've taken him!

Clutch is one of those "next level" things that I just don't have the time or the inclination to delve into. Not saying it's not important, just that it's not that important to me.

I started the thread to help some of the newbs avoid what I see as newbie mistakes. If you have a $15 million pitching staff in Shea with six righty sluggers and a 4e23 at SS, it's not the clutch hitting that's hurting your team. The ironic thing is, these guys [i:4d9b013065]refuse to trade with you[/i:4d9b013065] even when you can dramatically improve their team while helping your own.

If you've done all the basics right and want to work on your clutch situations, there's a couple of threads dedicated solely to that by guys who have thought [i:4d9b013065]way[/i:4d9b013065] more about it than I have.
