After a 15-30 start, I was just happy to get the Glaciers back into the hunt; now I'm going to be disappointed if I can't hang on to one of those top 6 spots. Last night's whooping by Bob's Sox didn't help me a bit.
Here is my unscientific take on where we stand:
Two teams seem to have a lock on spots, both in the east, Wood (74-58 ), and Phanatics (72-60). The Bruins (70-62) are pretty well assured of a top 6 spot as well but are fighting Stone Statutes (68-64) for the div lead. Mania (68-64) leads the central but is being attacked on all sides by the Sox (66-66) and Glaciers (65-67). The west's Jedi (66-66) also are in the hunt. Even the Sons (63-69) in the central have a legitimate shot and are only 5 games back of Mania. Only two teams would seem to be out of it - Expos (62-70) are looking up at all three teams in their div with .500 or better records; and Dancing bears (58-72), who would have to climb past 5 teams to get into the top 6 and has the two teams with the best records in the league in their division. The Cha Chas (60-72) also have a hard row to hoe, but who knows?
With 30 games of intra-division play to go, rankings are:
#1 - Wood (74-58)
#2 - Phanatics (72-60)
#3 - Bruins (70-62)
#4 - Stone Statutes (68-64)
- Mania (68-64)
#6 - Sox (66-66)
- Jedi (66-66)
Still in the Hunt -
Glaciers (65-67)
Sons (63-69)
