Pit,Nym,SF and Mn will be in the same division. Oak, Bos and Atl would all be good teams to take at this point.

Let's fill it up!

I wonder if people are slow to sign up out of fear that all the good teams may have been taken? What does everyone think of this possible solution?

BAL $94,160,000
MIN $81,520,000
PIT $76,140,000
NYM $75,630,000
SF $70,150,000
DET $67,520,000
ATL $67,070,000
CIN $66,140,000
STL $65,960,000
NYY $63,610,000
BOS $60,840,000
OAK $60,720,000
LA $60,070,000
WAS $59,000,000
HOU $58,110,000
CHC $57,670,000
KC $54,880,000
SEA $54,250,000
CAL $51,810,000
CHW $49,910,000
PHN $44,810,000
MON $42,910,000
CLE $41,230,000
SD $38,920,000

These are the total salaries of players by team. What if the teams over 70M get one free agent, 60-70M teams get two free agents, 50-60M teams get 3 free agents, etc. We could modify this but what do you think of a sliding scale that benefits the lower salaried teams to make it more even?

Remember all free agents are 4M or less in salary. Another suggestion would be to slide the free agent cap higher for lower salaried teams.

Maybe I am overthinking this whole thing and nothing special needs to be done.

True Geograpical Divisions?

Postby divad » Sun Oct 30, 2005 9:17 pm

How about we use longitude to determine divisions? or NL vs AL if it were 8 NLs and 4 ALs?

How do you erase a post?

Postby divad » Sun Oct 30, 2005 9:25 pm

Oh, now that I erased these ideas... I see someone agreed with one of them? I have to disagree with me though... upon further thought, I like the 3.99M (or is that 4.00M) limit on free agents. And, "teams over 70M get one free agent, 60-70M teams get two free agents, 50-60M teams get 3 free agents", right?

I concur with Arkinals idea of limiting FA acquisitions to those who had once played for the team. Allow free agents for any price, up to the $80 mil cap, of course, especially if we are required to retain all of the players on the roster (that would only allow my team to sign three free agents, since there are already 25 Astros on the roster, although I'd have over $20 mil in cap).

1. Old Geezer - Senators at RFK
2. LMBombers - Pittsburgh
3. OT - Mets
4. Genegrid- Giants
5. tycobb - Cubs
6. tkl33 - Reds
7. Rob55 - Twins
8. Arkinals - Cardinals
9. MoCrash - Astros

Note: I'm actually a lifelong Cardinals fan, but am fond of the old Astros because of "Ball Four" (I think I should be automatically given Bouton). I even know the lyrics of "Proud To Be An Astro." Besides, I covered Houston as a reporter in 1986. Still have fond memories of the 'Dome.

Guys if the whole idea of this theme is to play with your favorite team for 1969 why are you allowing any FA pick ups at all. Every team can field a valid strat team for 1969. In some cases you may have to draft a 10th pitcher to get the team in the auto draft buy you could easily drop those players after the auto draft runs.

What is the point of drafting 2 FA's that fill the wholes on your team. Thats the fun about playing with a one team theme, you have to deal with a real managers decisions.

Being the GM is the thing...for me.

Real GMs aren't handcuffed to make no player transactions... that's the most fun part of the game for me. Are trades to be dissallowed? How about making rules to free up GMs after certain GAME#s to reflect where transaction peaks actually occurred in the 1969 season? or even like GMs today? Filling that gap with the right player is groovy, man 8)

Free Agents could be like AAA callups? Worst record goes first after GAME#141? Where else, what GAME# would reflect real player movement?
