I have to agree with Bbrool on this one. I was under the understanding that if I picked the Reds..then I could only use Reds players. If the majority rule to allow FA's, then I will have to bow out. The Reds pitching is...well...not very good, but that is the beauty of it. Can I manage that staff to a winning record?

If you think playing one of these teams is painful, try playing the San Diego Padres in ATG II like I just did. Mantle's salary alone is more than the entire Padre's hitting roster! :shock:

If you like being the GM...or a manager...then a team theme is the perfect game. It's easy to plug in a FA or two to fill in a hole, but to manage a team with holes and trying to matchup lineups and pitchers every night is a nightmare and alot of fun.

You will have more hands on management with a single team then any other game you play.

You know what? My idea had been to play the 1969 Senators, win or lose (almost 100% guaranteed to lose). I don't intend to pick anyone except Senators, except to get over the 60MM minimum and then I was going to drop them.

I will let all the others who signed up vote and decide - can you have non-roster players on the team or not. Majority will rule. I will start setting up the league shortly (today or tomorrow) and will list the divisions, and will send the password to the East (once we have the league filled.)

My .02. Trading should be allowed between the 12 of us with no restrictions. No free agents from franchises not selected should be allowed. A possible exception might be to allow free agents of $1 million or less with a cap of, say, three free agents. Since that would probably only involve role player types, the esence of the theme would not be diluted. Just my .02.

There are going to have to be a few allowances. The Cubs for instance only have 1 catcher.

I can live with No FA's except to allow .50 FA's to fill a roster(such as the Cubs backup catcher).

If you put the 4 highest salaried teams in the same division, that would give some of the lesser salaried teams a chance to make the playoffs.

I like that idea, and the decision had already been agreed to that I would set up the divisions according to the salary cap of the team. So far, it looks like the divisions would be:

If no concensus on the league rules appears by end of today, I will, as Comissioner, make some #@#$$ arbitrary rulings (I have to better than Bud, no matter what I rule!) as to the rules.

1. No on the graduated Free Agent rule that I suggested. No Free Agents period except .50 guys needed to fill out an autodraft form.

2. No free agents but if we do I like the graduated system that helps out lower salaried teams more so than the higher salaried teams. If we do this then all players not on one of the 12 franchises in the league should be elligible regardless of what teams they ever played for.

3. NO TRADES

I will participate in the league no matter what is decided with these questions.

I will have to allow some exceptions no matter what rule we adopt. For example, after drafting my team, I am one player short and cannot complete the team without selecting a 25th player whose cost is about 3MM. What I will do in my case is select a player at about 3 MM, then drop him later and pick up my remaining .500 MM players from the Senators. So far it looks like I will chose someone from the Padres, but I want to see which teams the final two managers select.
