Washington Senators Challenge -- League Full, Password sent

Our historical single season sets

Postby cplake » Mon Oct 31, 2005 12:44 pm

East
1. Robb55 (Twins)
2. LM Bombers (Pirates)
3. OT (Mets)
4. Genegrid (Giants)

Central
1. tkl33 (Reds)
2. Arkinals (Cardinals)
3. cpl5454 (Braves)
4.

West
1. Zimharry (Dodgers)
2. Old Geezer (Senators)
3. MoCrash (Astros)
4. TyCobb (Cubs)

Obviously, when we get the remaining 2 managers, there may be some movement between the Central and West, depending on which teams those 2 managers pick.

If no concensus on the league rules appears by end of today, I will, as Comissioner, make some #@#$$ arbitrary rulings (I have to better than Bud, no matter what I rule!) as to the rules.

Vote Now:

Do we do the graduated FA rule, i.e. 70-80MM team, 1 FA; 60-69.99 2 FA, and anything below 60MM gets 3 FA? [b:3ba975e6fb]NO[/b:3ba975e6fb]

Second, can you only pick FAs that played on your team at some point in their career? [b:3ba975e6fb]NO, .50 centers only[/b:3ba975e6fb]

Third, will we allow trades between the teams? [b:3ba975e6fb]NO[/b:3ba975e6fb]

Please vote today.

Any team that requires an exception to the single team drafting (example - cubs need a backup catcher, the Pirates need 1 additional pitcher, I need a 3MM hitter to pass the minimum salary cap), please send me an email at mevans@coral-energy.com or put a message in here, so I can authorize your drafting outside the rules and give some guidance (for example, with the Pirates, after you complete the draft, you should drop the 10th pitcher to be more aligned with the original team, and I will have to drop my 3MM hitter and pick up the remaining Senators).

The Cubs also need a 5th starter.

Geez,
Does your post mean we are scrapping the vote and going with NO FA's except for .50 cent exceptions?

No, sorry. I just want to know the "exceptions" ahead of time. I know that you are an exception, I am an exception and LM Bombers are an exception. As soon as we get one more manager, we can wrap up the vote, I will announce the results, we will set the rules and I will create the league.

my vote would be that we adhere to the "team" theme as nearly as possible. I think that was the "idea" when I signed up. I could care less about divisions and such...whatever is fair is fine with me. So any trading, picking up of players from other teams etc etc I would be against..or vote no for. So if I have the Twins....when we play ball on the first Monday night I must have TWINS only on my roster....and when the season ends I must have TWINS only on my roster.

Exceptions would be as noted....if a team needs a player to make their roster a legal TSN roster....then we have no choice but to allow it. If we stray to far from this ....then I am with tkl...I wlll have to rethink playing.

The Cubs deffinately need a semi-legit SP. They cannot field a rotation without one. They might need a second catcher too unless one of the position players is also catcher elligible.

My Pirates only need a pitcher to make my roster legal. I will use a 50¢ SP and hide him in my rotation without ever using him (HAL may use him in a very long extra inning game but that is unavoidable).

Atlanta Braves

Postby cplake » Mon Oct 31, 2005 2:30 pm

Looks like the Braves only have 9 pitchers. I'll draft a .50 center from a team not picked and drop him after the draft. I'll have 9 pitchers and 24 total on my roster. I'm at approximately 67MM so I'm over the minimum and have backups at every position. I don't believe I'll need to submit any exceptions.

I'm all for keeping this as real as possible (I even named my manager after the real one -- Lum Harris).

This should be fun. Goo luck guys.

Bombers, under 1969 rules, you have to draft 10 pitchers, but can play with only 9. I suggest that we keep this as pure as possible, so that you draft a pitcher, then drop him after the draft. I will be dropping my extra hitter (non-Senator, but needed to beat the salary cap minimum) as soon as the draft is finished. Twins will not be able to carry everyone, since the team payroll is 81 MM.
