G-Men Challenge:Alphabet Theme 80 mil. DH/ NEW LEAGUE!

Postby tkl33 » Sun Oct 30, 2005 9:10 pm

I would be interested in this. Looking at some players though...Y&P as a combo isn't too good. A nice pitching staff, 4-SS, 2-1B and Yaz in the OF (unless you expect Paskert and PafKo to start there also).

I would be very interested in the "J's" though...depending who you would pair up with them. There is no catcher and only 8 pitchers, 3 of which are .50'ers.

I haven't had time to check other letters but I will tomorrow.

Off to work. :(

tkl...make a suggestion, y won't work, but check other short letters that have a suitable catcher and some pitchers to go with j. Im still in, but still in shock from getting stuck in the original league with all my b.s. here's what i ended up with, even though the frenzy also started without me, since me ames and genegrid didn't get out in time...

garcia they gave me instead of some big name pitcher who starts with a b...I got pretty much everyone I drafted, about 21 b's in all...but swapped alot out so I wouldn't have a nearly identical team to what I'll have here. plus that brett salary really chews into your other options, plus you have to pay for a backup (who begins with B) for all his missed games! :x

Sorry guys, I am not going to blow 2 credits on this theme. I just found out the other league starts tonight and I haven't even looked at my team!

I better think before I leap, so if okay I will go to the undecided category as to which letter. I realize that this makes both D and A up for grabs. I am definitely in the league but still looking for that letter that excites me(though may suck but would have players/etc that would be fun to manage).

Genegrid pulled out? What other league is he talking about? The original league that inadvertently filled doesn't start until next Monday. I know because I am in that one as well. :(

that's the one genegrid's talking about, and yes, bizzarely, it doesn't begin until the 7th, which I saw, but had forgotten, so Ive got another week to tweak there. fortunetly I just made another finals, and lost ofcourse, but have an extra credit, and am about burned out on atg2 anyway except for unusual themes, so still Im in, just not entered yet.

We need to push to get this filled, it looks like.

Just a suggestion to Muttdoc, or whomever is running this theme. It might be helpful towards filling if we change the heading of the thread, to something like "Looking for 5 owners to complete Alphabet Challenge League", or something similar. And, someone good at this stuff should come up with the remaining letters and pairings of letters that are available. I think leaving it up to prospects is too daunting, in some cases. I guess A is now available, since genegrid backed out. For example, ask incoming players to sign up for:
1. A
2. L & T
3. R & Y
4. J & O
5. Remainder of letters
(Those are just examples, they aren't intended to represent the actual pairings). Also, I think a posting of all rules should be with this signup thread, so a prospect doesn't have to read through all the previous threads to glean the gist of the league, i.e. $80m, DH, can only use players of your letter(s), no trading, or whatever the rules are. It's possible a brand new thread with this info might be more attractive. After looking like we were going to fill this last weekend, this has hit a brick wall, and we actually have lost an owner. So, it needs some new marketing, IMO. :)
